Israel has informed the United Nations #humanrights council (#OHCHR) it is formally withdrawing from the body.

In a message posted to social media, Reuters reports foreign minister Gideon Saar said “The decision was reached in light of the ongoing and unrelenting institutional bias against Israel in the human rights council, which has been persistent since its inception in 2006.”

Early in the Israel-#Gaza conflict the OHCHR said that “there is already clear evidence that #warcrimes may have been committed in the latest explosion of violence in Israel and Gaza.”

A disabled woman named Alma Bowman spent 30 months, nearly three years, in ICE custody during the first Trump regime.

The daughter of an American veteran, they revoked her status because she wrote $1200 in bad cheques twenty years ago. Which she paid back.

When she finally got out of the camps, she worked with the US government as a whistleblower to prosecute detention centre employees who were sterilizing immigrants without consent.

Who were performing unnecessary hysterectomies and tubal ligations.

She used her real name. She stood up for injustice. She tried to protect others.

Now ICE has taken her again, and the media have been largely silent.

The MAGA crowds are cheering because they have no compassion.

No one should be treated this way.

I’m going to keep saying her name until she gets the attention she deserves. She needs to be released.

The story of Alma Bowman, a disabled woman and US citizen detained by ICE, just keeps getting worse.

She’s been in the country for 50 years. They took her wheelchair, denied her medications and threw her in a detention facility in Georgia.

Her case is getting a decent amount of media attention, with petitions circulating to get her released.

But did you know it’s not the first time she’s very nearly faced deportation?

In 2020, she was a key witness in a legal battle against Irwin County Detention Centre.

She helped blow the whistle about a doctor performing unnecessary hysterectomies and sterilizations on immigrant women detained in the facility.

This is Nazi level eugenics.

They’re grabbing people off the streets. They’re disappearing them. Many die in custody and/or are never seen again.

Sterilization of ‘undesirables’ is sadly nothing new. It’s a way to push white supremacy.

It takes a lot of courage to speak out against such practices, and it’s horrifying that she’s again sitting in a detention centre without due process.

An undocumented man who was accused by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary, Kristi Noem, last week of threatening to assassinate Donald Trump in a letter may have been framed by someone accused of previously attacking the man, according to news reports.

Investigators are said to be looking into whether the letter was an attempt to get the man deported, to prevent him from testifying against his alleged attacker.

ICE and police in San Diego deployed flash bang grenades against community members who surrounded them and blocked ICE vans, when they attempted to arrest several workers at an Italian restaurant.

At one point, a group blocked an unmarked vehicle carrying agents from leaving the intersection at 30th and Beech Streets. After activating the sirens multiple times without success, agents used what appeared to be a smoke device to disperse the crowd."
