@jezebelkat still, something to look forward to in the long run...and at least they still somehow have coffee
Writer, manga editor, crazy pug lady, yokai otaku. Mostly pugs and Japan things. also @yokaiparade
@jezebelkat still, something to look forward to in the long run...and at least they still somehow have coffee
@jezebelkat I hope at least it's as peaceful and calm as that
@takosix so many special little joys in owning a dog😬
@shimst3r @AnthoDerv nothing will ever be better than the iPhone SE. I don't know why we can't have nice things😢
it's good to be a pug, your biggest problem is that it's hard to hold the ball
@AnthoDerv when the battery won't hold enough charge anymore. however, I am thinking of buying an iPhone mini while I can still get one, since I read that Apple isn't going to make small phones anymore, so I'll have it when i need to replace my current phone. but if I thought I could get what I wanted in a few years I wouldn't buy till this one was dying.
@FlockOfCats I grew up Italian-American, so it was normal to eat squid. It was kind of exotic for Americans then. Now it seems super common - they call it calamari and batter it and fry it, often without the tentacles, so people hardly know what they are eating.
@Rachel_Thorn I don't get this either, but one thing I think it shows is that their jobs really must not be very hard work
@takosix condolences
@Rachel_Thorn yeah. I had just one friend who went to Tokyo and went to literally every weird little thing I recommended in Yanaka - tiny cafes, a sandwich vending machine, you name it. Probably significant that she's a fellow manga editor and most of the others have been people who are going to take one trip to cross Japan off their list
@Rachel_Thorn Did they follow the advice? Lots of people ask me for travel advice for Tokyo and when I tell them to avoid an overcrowded tourist spot, I think the vast majority don't listen. They want to see the stuff they've seen photos of. I don't blame them I guess - so do I! it's just that the stuff I've seen photos of at this point is much more obscure. So I honestly don't know if it's possible to solve the problem - for first time tourists, at least.
@Rachel_Thorn I was in Kyoto for one day last December and I swear that outside of the train station I saw barely a handful of other tourists. I had been anxious about whether it would be no fun to visit - I hadn't been to Kyoto since the mid 1990s, which was truly a different world. But it seemed like it really isn't that hard to avoid the crowds if your interests are a little outside the mainstream.
@Rachel_Thorn that is very interesting, thank you! an answer to a question that I never would have imagined had such a deep answer, if that makes sense
@scoutie @mika @jezebelkat this is a very long-standing website by a reliable source https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants
@takosix ugh, that is awful, but can't they give her more nose food then? better nose food? it's not fair to blame her, she's suffering enough
@takosix nurse should be in trouble for not keeping her fed!😤
@zoomar Guess I better stock up on Capybara in a Peanut before prices go up 😥
@takosix condolences but I confess I might have wanted to do the same. I understand the principle but the gut reaction is too strong
@Rachel_Thorn I see they are charging extra for that one, as it deserves
(please don't tell me it's just because it's bigger than the others😂 )
@jezebelkat I still have a first gen SE that I use as a backup that seems to be updating OK, so they seem to support stuff for a pretty long time? I've had that so long, I feel like a mini12 might outlive me (or, like, civilization😬 ) at this point
