@jamigibbs what do you cut your rabbets with? I’m mostly hand tool as well, and either use a backsaw, or break out the router plane… have yet to purchase a dedicated rebate plane or similar, though Lee Valley tools continuously tempts me with their combination plane…

@jamigibbs I’m so bummed… was at an antique store this year and had a chance to buy (but didn’t) original Addams Family cartoon books, which the original show was loosely based on. Those old drawings were amazing!

I used to practice/warm up every day by drawing 1 inch square drawings in my sketchbook. Often single facial features, occasionally tiny portraits.

I started these practice grids because they made it easier for me to draw every day - I could finish one in 20 minutes. And my drawing improved much faster with daily practice -- I found out that 20 min/day always beats 140 min once/week.

I should get back to that!

My little was so delighted to be able to create an avatar in her learning app (ABC Mouse) that looked like her. She held her arm up to the screen to match her skin and squealed in delight when locs were a hair option. #Self-Determination is so much easier when you can see yourself.

@jensimmons There seems to be a widespread belief here that people who aren't regularly masking are simply "brainwashed" or willful or negligent, etc. There certainly are people who fall into these categories, but it seems simplistic to paint with such a broad stroke. Using shame will do little to further your cause, and likely cause further entrenchment.

@resuna I was specifically responding to the claim that there's no difference between 1 and 100 (or presumably 3500) preventable COVID deaths in terms of response. My counter was that there is a difference... if there were only 1 COVID death per day happening, yes it would be a tragedy, but I do not think it would warrant widespread public, individual action.

I am grateful for all of the updated privacy policy email notices that I have received over the holidays! The gift that keeps on giving, all year 'round! :christmastree:
