wordsmith‽ ⁂

I'm a crepuscular poet who drifts between phases irregularly, carried by an unrequited romance with the Moon. If you create something that's the right shape, poetry may fall out of me.

In reality I'm a British European in southern England who marinaded in Scotland and the Westcountry.

I occasionally post photos on my Pixelfed account at metapixl.com/@wordsmith

I will gladly accept more poetry.

@detondev except to myself, on occasion.

@detondev in my defence of following you after seeing this toot, a lot of your other toots caused thoughts of poetry so, well, that's my defence.

@asanpin saves my server on storage costs; I don't use this as a blog so after some time I recently decided to set autodelete. I can't imagine anyone wanting to read back to old stuff, unless I've faved it so it still hangs around.

wordsmith‽ ⁂ boosted:

I never expected to see so many trans people on Mastodon. I just came here to get away from Twitter and ended up in the #trans living room it seems. My feed is full of trans people, trans rights, trans issues, trans cuteness etc and not only does it often times fill me with surprising amounts of joy, it's making me a better human I think. Love this. Trans people, you rock.

@macberg yeah, I don't agree with infantilising folk so they don't even have an option to see it. Choice is one of the core principles of the Fedi.

2026-02-10

@macberg I used to browse the Federated pre-Eternal November but since then I found muting accounts too much to get an interesting signal-noise ratio, but I can see the appeal. Curious that people are still using it!

I have to partially grant them some credit from the moderation angle, though. Maybe they'd have more time if they hadn't started artificially sending new folk to masto.social...

It's "yardarm" with an "m"? When did they change this from the "n"? Who gave permission?!

2026-02-10

@Aphelion Monday owes us.

2026-02-10

@nobody *tips hat*

2026-02-10

@nobody i thought coots were in charge of snow angel affairs?

2026-02-10

@freebliss This is marvellous. Dedication to Web 1.0!

2026-02-10

@nobody I may have never seen a duck lying down. I have seen quite some number of ducks.

2026-02-10

@tired_and_wired Sorry mate, Curved Billing is on the other side of the building to your right.

@acererak
at least there always seems to be
a little time aside to
put pen to paper and mix
words into #poetry.

2026-02-10

@zewm also, apologies I didn't properly look at your initial screenshot. The "following hashtag" phenomenon is so common I've become complacent!

2026-02-10

@zewm That's definitely weird. I tend to be vaguely aware of the changes happening with the Mastodon software, and mastodon.social, and haven't heard mention of any new feature that would force-follow or anything. There'd be an uproar if there were!

2026-02-10

@zewm It's possible that they frequently use a hashtag that you're following - such posts appear in your home timeline.

2026-02-09

@ahihi relatedly, this came across my desk today. I mean, not literally. Goodness no. Check this absolute freakin' *fidelity*.

@ozzelot pretty sure they're predominantly interested with being able to either commercialise moderation or have member states perform it. The problem humanity has with facebook is not about moderation, it's about their dirty, core business model.
