Network plumber at DE-CIX. I do projects with IP(v4 & v6), Linux and video streaming. Arch Linux user btw. Probably spends too much time on his computer.

@bagder That's very interesting, as Forgejo displays a big warning on top if something like this is being detected, a button to escape them and is marking the line with a warning:

"This file contains Unicode characters that can be confused with other characters."

Really confused that this is missing in GitHub.

@Lee_Holmes My university's Linux/Unix professor used this "trick" to teach students not paying attention a lesson and made them fail exams.

The exams were put as .txt files on the computers with cryptic filenames containing commands, and just doing "vim exam<tab>" would result in bash just deleting the exam file if not escaped carefully because we also had to do those exams on the CLI with your favorite text editor / CLI tools.

Fun times. My zsh automatically escapes when tabbing, thank god.

@nicoduck @IPngNetworks @Skorpy @feuerrot Huh? The blackhole RS has been decom'd quite a while ago. Curious where you're pulling those additional 20k routes.

@benjojo I've stumbled across this situation also multiple times. What I did when not having angled LC connectors by hand was pulling the white bend protection off the connector and sliding it down the cable, giving some additional room to bend (with the downside of losing the bend protection as now there's only the metal left)

@resingm @jtk Better use fedi.wrm.sr - mine does :)

2025-03-18

@resingm @jtk You might want to respect robots.txt and exclude those instances being restrictive: github.com/superseriousbusines

@nextcloud Certainly, not!

Please:
- Stop chasing AI bullshit! No *user* wants it!
- Get back to a *sane* major release cycle! (Like every 2 years.) The current pace is not sustainable. It’s just CEO marketing …
- prioritize fixing bugs over new features. There is no point in adding more rushed “features” to broken existing ones.
- Fix the massive performance issues.

Hey @rgacogne since you're on Fedi I might actually ask you directly here, is there a way for dnsdist to also track whole subnets?

Like :setMasks() but for :setQueryRate()? Could be an additional parameter for :setQueryRate() and co.

This would help me here to do 2 stages of blocking, one for single hosts (or rather /32 IPv4 and /64 IPv6) and one for /24 IPv4 and /48 IPv6 with higher limits.

2025-01-27

Seems as someone hates one of my domains, as they were request flooding my authoritative DNS servers with up to 600.000 requests per second the other day...

Luckily dnsdist handled this without breaking a sweat, protecting the PowerDNS authoritative server (and it's PostgreSQL) behind it without breaking a sweat and I did not even have eBPF filtering configured!

Now that NodeBB has gained ActivityPub support, there's now a second instance in the "more than 2 million users" club as it seems

2025-01-17

@mephisto @kly Well one of the things that left a very sour taste in people's mouths were the "InfluxDB HA is coming soon for the community version" promises and then when they hit 1.0, it was a "whoops, it's an Enterprise only feature sorry not sorry" rugpull.

Also seeing how they handled the whole ap-southeast-2 fiasco, they don't even seem to care about their business customers.

This doesn't really surprise me now, glad I found with ClickHouse a viable alternative for my use cases, YMMV.

@asatothabaddon Ich lebe seit vielen Jahren auf dem Handy de-googled (also gar keine Google Play Services installiert was meine App-Auswahl eh schon limitiert), von daher war der Umstieg für mich jetzt nicht so schwer.
