The new laptop arrived today! Ran through a bunch of setup* on it tonight and it should be ready for stream tomorrow. (Pending any major technical difficulties.)

*- And by setup I mean uninstalling a bunch of crap that I didn't ask for in the first place.

So I'm told that my current instance of #Mastodon is shutting down in December - which is totally understandable.

This brings up a question I'm sure others have faced - how to pick a new instance? Options include focusing on geography, institutional affiliation, professional interest, etc.

@sylphrin I've actually got a specific artist in mind that I want to ask if they do commercial commissions. I just keep finding myself in a spoon deficit whenever I happen to check and see their commissions are open. The idea (red panda & nuggies) will still be valid.

That's what happens when I fall down a rabbit hole and read 700 pages (1 and 1/2 books) in 6 days.

And yet I'm still hesitant to mentioned what I'm reading online for fear of spoilers.

Oh dear. I've fallen down a rabbit hole of adding a bunch of formulas to my stream schedule tracking spreadsheet. It now automatically generates strings I can copy/paste in Discord that include timestamp formatting that display in the user's local time zone.

I'm not proud of all the horribleness it took to make this happen. J/k, I'm absolutely proud of it!

Listen, as a steamer I get that ads--particularly with Twitch--can be annoying, I do, but...

If you can't afford to sub to a streamer you enjoy, you CAN afford to sit through ads without complaining to support them.

It costs nothing to not make a streamer feel guilty about something they have very, very little control over.
