Arkansas banned paying for AP African history tests—but pays for AP European history
TX banned abortion b/c a fetus has rights—but reject liability for a stillbirth b/c a fetus has no rights
N Dakota GOP banned free school lunches—but gave themselves free lunches
For the GOP, hypocrisy isn’t a bug—it’s the feature. Vote them out.
The English language is a wonderful thing, and we know some rules without knowing we know them.
‘Have you ever heard that patter-pitter of tiny feet? Or the dong-ding of a bell? Or hop-hip music? That’s because, when you repeat a word with a different vowel, the order is always I A O. Bish bash bosh. So politicians may flip-flop, but they can never flop-flip. It’s tit-for-tat, never tat-for-tit. This is called ablaut reduplication, and if you do things any other way, they sound very, very odd indeed.’ From ‘The Elements of Eloquence’ by Mark Forsyth.

When people turn up for democracy, democracy wins — and so do the people.
Once again, Gen Z is saving democracy. And they’re just getting started.
The 40% want to tell the 60% what to do.
They’ve achieved this in the Senate.
They’ve achieved this in the Supreme Court.
But tonight in Ohio, the 60% fought back.
on my bike ride home, I passed a kid who was maybe 11 years old riding his bike the opposite direction on the sidewalk, and while we were passing he yelled at me, “I’m riding a bike too!!”
I rang my little bell and we gave each other a thumbs-up and it was so cute & wholesome ☺️
(honestly this is the interaction I hope for every time I pass another cyclist)

Europe: “Thank you. You have reached our Out of Office message. We are away on our minimum four weeks of vacation which we are enjoying because we are not burdened with usurious health insurance premiums or medical debt because we have universal health care, nor are we paying off our extortionate student loans. We will reply to your message after we return via our high speed rail.”
Um? There's a lot to unpack here. It should be pointed out there's not a peep about Judge Cannon in Florida. Wonder why? And has anyone noticed not a word . . . zero, zilch, nada, from anyone, anywhere, spoken, written, mentioned or otherwise about Ivanka, Jared, Junior, Meadows, and/or others who were eye-ball deep in this mess. Hmmm? Wonder why? It's common sense when an animal is trapped in a corner it will lash out uncontrollably and irrationally if threatened. Anyone see any lashing out lately? Wonder if someone might get their internet access taken away or restricted? #GOP #GQP #PathologicalLiars #RollingStones https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-request-new-judge-new-venue-jan-6-case-1234801656/

In order to stay within guardrails of sanity, the U.S. system relies on a population of voters who understand and value certain ideas about collective civic duty, democratic norms, fairness, and civil liberty.
What Trump has shown is that an increasingly large number of U.S. voters neither understand nor value those things at all.
Even if he disappeared today, that problem wouldn't leave with him.
Living in Florida is like being trapped in the movie, Idiocracy.

Trump is being arrested today. For the third time. So here’s a bold thought: Maybe he doesn’t belong in the White House. Like, ever again.
@stewartvm @StillIRise1963 @birdpoof Because one of the most basic dynamics of US politics is that white voters often oppose social programs that would benefit them immensely because they think minorities would benefit from them more and use them to "leech off the government." Of course they think this in part because politicians constantly tell them so.
