Dla wielu użytkowników iPhone’ów pozostanie na starszej wersji systemu to świadomy wybór.
Cenią sobie stabilność iOS 18 lub po prostu nie podoba im się nowy interfejs iOS 26. Wygląda jednak na to, że Apple właśnie zakręciło kurek z poprawkami bezpieczeństwa dla tej grupy. Masz nowszy telefon? Koniec z wyborem.
W zeszłym tygodniu Apple wypuściło dwie ważne aktualizacje: iOS 26.2 (dla wszystkich) oraz iOS 18.7.3 (teoretycznie dla tych, którzy nie zaktualizowali jeszcze systemu). Obie łatają krytyczne luki w silniku WebKit, które mogą być wykorzystywane przez hakerów.

Niespodzianka w Ustawieniach
Zgodnie z doniesieniami Jasona Snella z Six Colors oraz redakcji 9to5Mac, użytkownicy posiadający iPhone’y kompatybilne z iOS 26 (czyli iPhone 11 i nowsze), którzy celowo pozostali na iOS 18, nie widzą już opcji instalacji samej łatki bezpieczeństwa (18.7.3). Jedyną dostępną opcją w Ustawieniach jest pełna aktualizacja do iOS 26.2.
Co to oznacza?
To radykalna zmiana polityki. Wcześniej Apple pozwalało użytkownikom „zimować” na starszej generacji systemu przez dłuższy czas, dostarczając im oddzielne łatki bezpieczeństwa. Teraz komunikat jest prosty: jeśli Twój telefon technicznie obsługuje iOS 26, musisz go zainstalować, aby być bezpiecznym.
Aktualizacja iOS 18.7.3 jest obecnie widoczna wyłącznie dla urządzeń, które nie mogą zainstalować iOS 26 (np. iPhone XS, XR).
Jest (skomplikowane) obejście
Istnieje pewna luka w tym systemie. Użytkownicy donoszą, że zapisanie się do publicznego programu beta i wybranie ścieżki „iOS 18 Public Beta” przywraca widoczność aktualizacji 18.7.3. Jest to jednak droga naokoło i sugeruje, że brak dostępności łatki w kanale stabilnym nie jest błędem, lecz celową decyzją Apple.
Jeśli więc trzymacie się kurczowo „osiemnastki” na swoim iPhonie 13, 14 czy 15 – przygotujcie się. Apple właśnie postawiło was pod ścianą: albo nowy system, albo dziurawy WebKit.

I hope someone here can help me understand what the attack vectors are.
It seems completely arbitrary and illogical for 18.7.3 to be available for iPad but not iPhone.
If your iPhone is capable of running iOS 26, but you haven’t upgraded yet, you’re no longer receiving security patches. iOS 26 is the only channel that’s receiving updates now.
If you’re still on iOS 18.7.2 or earlier, you’re also exposed to some nasty vulnerabilities that’ve been actively exploited in the wild since mid-Dec. Upgrading to iOS 26 is the only fix. (1/2)

iOS 26 has been such a big pile of s.. Did they even test this with older phones? Small delays in (almost every) animations, ugly icons, no logic where search bars and dialogs are shown. The new theme is also very badly designed in general. My favourite is the one second delay with some options like Location Services. It’s only enabled after a ”cool” animation is finished, with a delay of course. I wish I could revert back to 18.

I mean, after a week, I can confirm that while it’s usable, iOS 26 just kind of sucks. Battery life, UI, lag. If there was an easy roll-back, I’d do it immediately.

What a shitty way of "forcing" users to update to #iOS26
There are a serious security issues with in iOS 18. These get fixed with iOS 26. Or with iOS 18.7.3. But Apple won't show you 18.7.3 if your phone is capable of updating to iOS 26.
Guess Apple now forces it's users to have either an insecure or an unstable phone.
