Still fucks me up that Strauss' oboe concerto was written for John de Lancie (not that one), father of John de Lancie (yes that one) #kb»r

Etymonline doesn't seem to think "pump" and "bomb" are related – anyone who speaks a bit of both will intuit that they don't follow the sound rules of a regular EN-ES cognate – but both come from an onomatopoeia expressing the same thing. It's a type of relation, just not a historical one. #kb»r
When I see a name like「宇多田」I think "wait, why are you even writing this in kanji? This is just kana with extra lines!" I guess writing family names in kana just Isn't Done unless it's a stage name though. #kb»r
Bürgerbegehren zur Königsbrücker abgewiesen
Vor etwas mehr als einem Jahr genehmigte die Landesdirektion Sachsen (LDS) den Ausbau der Königsbrücker Straße (Neustadt-Geflüster vom 17. Mai 2024). Bitter nötig in vielerlei Hinsicht. Ist es doch eine der gefährlichsten Pisten für Radfahrer in der gefährlic

There are very few cases where this reaction might be useful, but by god I will be prepared.

If I were Alec Guinness, I'd absolutely have been mad that this is largely what I'm remembered for, but that's no fault of Star Wars #kb»r
>…okay but the editing and shot changes in subsequent releases weren't all bad, the original editing has some jank >there is way more space racism in this than I remembered >ILM in '77 was so fucking good holy shit #kb»r
Bonus round: Star Wars (1977, despec.), which I also hadn't seen in a very long time

>superbly cool
>would've loved it in '77
>would've nonetheless vaguely resented that it's taken so seriously

Is it gauche to like a post if you already agreed with its content? "Thanks for saying a thing I already believed?" What kind of signal does that send? >KB literally nobody else thinks this is a question, what the fuck is wrong with your attitude lately? What indeed! #kb»r
It reminded me that one of the spoiler things I was incredulous about in Andor S2 – mostly the last arc – is actually something that Rogue One kinda boxed them into #kb»r
Rewatched Rogue One, like many people. The elements which made Andor interesting are all there, but downgraded. Many of its biggest problems are editing – which of course everyone who knows about its production or has simply seen the movie is aware – but not all of them. Still like it though. #kb»r
Everyone likes food, but is there a point to my posting about it? Why would I post pictures of the kanelbullar I made if I can't give you one? "i made you a cookie but then I eated it ;_;" as a form of community. #kb»r
LRP: Incidentally, I am always infinitely amused that all the serious DIB/MIC conventions are in the same venue as Katsu and MAG. I hope @jaehaerys48.bsky.social and I get a chance to run our panel on the JSDF there someday purely for the bit #kb»r
This one has been on the shelf so long that Kishida served his entire tenure as PM since we began work ^^; #kb»r

The good thing about not writing as fluently in Japanese is that it gives me more time to think about whether what I want to say actually makes sense before I send #kb»r
Me playing CoD 2: Big Red One when I was 13: "Wow, this is just like a classic war movie!" Me playing CoD 2: Big Red One now: "Wow, this is the hoariest, most cliche classic war movie I've ever played!" #kb»r
