#SitTogether

2025-07-04

I'm back in one of my hidey holes in the woods. I can hear in the distance: bird calls, human voices chatting, some construction thing, and the occasional hiss of traffic on the highway.

But it is quiet and still immediately around me. And I realized, this is sorta what meditation feels like.

Yeah, you're aware of all the stuff going on around you, but right here in this moment, in this space, is stillness.

Happy sigh...

#sitTogether thoughts.

Photo of my feet, crossed at the ankles in front of sun-dappled open ground. Framed by tree trunks, with hints of the open valley behind the line of trees. Peaceful af.

Out of curiosity, is anybody interested in meditation buddies?

I sit every day now, usually around 10am EST, but don't always toot about it.

I could be more regular about that, as a prompt for others.

And/or am happy to fascilitate others connecting on a schedule that works best for them.

Open ended question, really. Feel free to discuss/brainstorm in replies.

What do you need in order to fit more mindfulness into your day? I'll help where I can.

I had a bee come visit.
It came close enough I could feel the wind of its wings on my arm as it explored, then zooop! it moved on.

I am sitting here watching wind gusts push through a spruce tree.

The gusts don't bend the whole tree at once, instead it sets all the branches bouncing in their own individual rhythm.

Looks surprisingly like a tree having a fit of giggles.

Today's meditation was under a porch during a thunderstorm.
Fekkin glorious. 🌩️✨

Oh man! My eye doc has me doing hot compresses on my eyes for 10min every day and it might be my new favourite thing.

I lie on the floor, which my spine loves, and I just relax there with, essentially, a weighted blanket on my monkeybrain.

Sah good.

I am out in the woods (again) and I like that I am sitting so still the squirrels just run their lil dramas above and around me. Only occasionally breaking the fourth wall by stopping and staring right at me.

Even if it's just a moment.
Even if it's just one breath.

My small non-grumpy moment! We can #sitTogether

Photo of one of my shoes and part of my orange bag in the foreground. Sitting under the shade of a Great Big maple tree, it's thick trunk on the right. In the distance is sun-kissed lawn and more shrubs/greenery as well as a couple of street parked cars, all along a very crooked horizon, because arty angle to incorporate shoes n such.

Meme. Image of a dock at twilight everything in gentle blues. Text: "So, if you are too tired to speak, sit next to me, because I, too, am fluent in silence."

Having a: "Well! Isn't this nice!" moment.

Photo from another forest hidey hole. A thick cedar trunk in the foreground on the right, a thinner one running up the middle, both in shade. Behind that lots of sunlit deciduous trees, mostly maple from my staring at them (just that I noticed them, not that my staring turned them maple). Behind that, some still, silty water peaks through the branches, with a wee glimpse of the far bank with fir or spruce trees.

Screencap from Daily Wisdom with a photo of children playing behind a wall of water jets.
Text reads:
"Meditation and friendship have this in common: each leads us directly to know who we are. They bring us to self-knowledge, which is always a mystery. 'Who am I?' is a lifelong question. And because it is such a serious question, we must approach it with a good degree of humour."

Oof.
I'm having one of those days where I just want to gather all my spoonie friends together on porch swings and pillow nests to just hang out wordlessly and take a break from the whole fekkin world.
Does that count as a #sitTogether moment?

I am feeling sad, discouraged, and overwhelmed today. So not sure if I'll be leaving a puddle of peace, or a puddle of tears in meditation today. Either way, you can join me, we can #sitTogether
(I'll make sure the metaphorical tissue box is within reach 😭)

It rained last night, the air is fresh and cool. The birds are chirping up a storm (hopefully not literally). My windows are wide open and I am about to settle in on my floor to do some sitting meditation, indoors while feeling very outdoors.
Throw open a window and join me, we can #sitTogether

Photo from my lil nature hidey hole today. Sitting on the ground under a bunch of cedar trees, there's rocks clustered in the foreground and a triangular window between leaning trees looking out onto a sunlit shallow river. At one point a goose slid down the rapids, ran into a rock, hopped up on it disgruntled and trying to look cool like nothing awkward happened as the second goose came down smoothly.

Sitting down and shutting up for a few minutes changes the world.

I just left a big ol puddle o peace in our interbeing today. Take a moment to go get yerself some. All it takes is being present for one moment, one breath. Peace comes in small sips sometimes.

Photo from one of my happy forest hidey holes. The knees and one runner'd toe of my crossed legs in the foreground. Sitting on a black-stoned cliff surrounded by cedar trees. The ground is littered with old brown cedar leaflet thingys. In the distance is the washed out (light balance fail) treed valley on the other side. But you can't really see it because of qll the branches of the trees surrounding me. Oh, and geese just honked in the distance. I could hear them splash down.
