Stopping visiting #CondéNast sites has not been easy. #Slashdot and #ArsTechnica have been two of my most visited sites forever!

But after learning of their treatment of their union workers, I can't in good conscience give them my attention.

Apparently Ars Technica released an article with AI slop that made people upset so i want to remind people that Ars Technica, along with GQ, Vanity Fair and Wired, are owned by Condé Nast- which recently dissolved their team doing incredible political coverage in Teen Vogue.

I'm not trying to read their print anymore because i think this should be expected from ownership that hates good reporting

RE: social.lansky.name/@hn100/1160

If Ars was employing fact checkers and verifying quotes — as used to be a journalistic standard — this incident wouldn’t have happened.

There should be accountability for the journalist but this is at least as much the fault of Condé Nast’s current business model of “journalism.”

A hacker claims to be selling nearly 40 million Condé Nast user records from its subsidiary websites, many of which rank among the most popular sites worldwide. This comes after the hacker leaked 2.3 million #Wired.com accounts last month.

  • Vogue, The New Yorker, GQ, Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest, Glamour, Teen Vogue, y Condé Nast Traveler, entre otras.

For those being notified or first learning about the #WIRED #databreach:

On December 25, I broke the story of how I had been contacted in November by "Lovely," who claimed to have discovered a vulnerability. They asked for help getting Condé Nast to respond to them. They claimed they were not seeking any bounty or payment and had only downloaded a few profiles as proof.

They showed me my own data.

Trying to help, I reached out to Condé Nast corporate as well as to a contact at #WIRED.

Condé Nast never responded to me -- or to "Lovely" who eventually showed their true colors as someone trying to extort Condé Nast.

Do they have more data? Yes, it appears they do.

@troyhunt verified the data leak and #HIBP has been notifying its affected subscribers.

In December 2025, 2.3M records of @WIRED users allegedly obtained from parent company were published online. The most recent dated back to the previous September and exposed email addresses and display names, as well as, for a small number of users, their name, phone number, date of birth, gender, and geographic location or full physical address.
