Had a helicopter fly directly overhead. Based on what I was able to dig up for comparison, I'm almost certain it was a UH-60, which, if true, doesn't narrow it down much in terms of what it was doing. Apparently, they're used by LE, military, and civilians, for a wide range of things including but not limited to SAR, moving cargo, and fire suppression. This one didn't look like it was carrying anything on hard points, at least from what I could see, so I'm assuming it was unarmed. So it could've been there for basically any reason imaginable, in other words. Interesting.

I mean, it was Cambodia and not Mexico in my case, and I wasn't broke because I'd inherited what I believed, incorrectly of course, was more money than I knew what to do with at the age of 19. Semantics, unimportant. If I could do it all over again, I would not; I would take my money and run absolutely nowhere. I can relate, more so than I should like. I called my dad the other day for a father's day that is only celebrated in the US. It's a different day here in Germany and I realized I live in a weird quantum state in my family

1) I am the black sheep of my family. Very far left, very gay, very anti-establishment. A rebel through and through. My cousins favorite gay cousin.

2) I am also the last best hope for success in my family. My brother is an asshole white supremacist with an abusive wife and my sister never really did anything with her life. I was the one that made it into university, got a head chef position in another country in another language. I was the kid with a future.

I am hated and dismissed for what I believe but loved and adored for what I can accomplish. I feel like the gaslit gifted child. Not wanted or loved for me but for what I can accomplish, they'll take it.
