You know it’s the #G7 Summit when the amount of helicopter traffic over your house suddenly increases, including 6 choppers flying in formation yesterday.
My new social media home. Tooting my musical horn, Mac Admin axe, and probably some curling and football (Canadian and Australian) talk as well.

Suspicious Package 4.5 is basically unusable on the first macOS 26 Tahoe beta. Selecting any file or folder on the All Files tab will cause it to crash.
It's obviously early days for Tahoe, but if you're trying to live on it, (a) you have my sympathies, and (b) you might be interested in this preview version of Suspicious Package 4.5.1, which ought to fix the crash:

Back when Apple changed Mac OS X drastically, Steve would come on stage and demo + explain why it was better for the user.
These days, they just talk about how gorgeous their new design is.
They never talk about how this new design benefits me other than “it is consistent across all platforms now.” But it can be consistently good or consistently bad across all platforms depending on how good the new UX is.
Steve Jobs talking about Computer Centric vs User Centric design:
Cycling directions are available in Apple Maps in Calgary as of sometime recently, it seems. I don’t know if this is an iOS 26 thing.
via platform state of the union—macOS Tahoe will be the last macOS to support Intel Macs. #macadmins
Love this. In his “I Agree” installation Dima Yarovinsky-Yahel took the content from terms of service statements for companies like Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Tinder and printed them out on A4 paper with a standard font size for legal contracts to demonstrate the length of these agreements.
Hierarchy of Needs
While #MacAdmins await the bombardment of information on Monday, I've used this lull to make my first blog post of the year. (Yes, 2025 has been busy.)
Blog Post versus Wiki Edit: which should you choose? (Do you need to choose?)
You’d think I couldn’t write 1700 words on this topic, but it’s amazing how deep you dive when preparing a workshop for #psumac.
I don't understand the pre event spoiler mentality like, good for you, you win the "I knew something before everyone else knew something" dick measuring contest that instantly loses value once $thing is announced officially. It's not impressive.
@tperfitt Those BOTH look familiar (likely one generation later for me)
Ad blockers, but for AI
@shayman The mental model that works for me is that the red light indicates Vampire Mode. (Sucking blood, er, power the whole time.)

Happy Saturday, #AirTag users!
Stop whatever you’re doing. Open the Find My app. Locate any tags with a low battery icon and replace them. Order at least as many CR2032 batteries as you just replaced.
These things are only useful if you replace the battery *before* you lose them.
You support unions?
Well have fun with your weekends, paid time off, and safe working conditions!
The session videos from this month's MacAD.UK conference have dropped already?!! A perfect Friday activity! #macadmins #MacADUK

You don't need to read this but I hope someone from Rogers will. I've had a Rogers iPhone for about 15 years, but after two and a half hours on hold with them (followed by a hangup), I switched today to Freedom Mobile, which seemed to want my business.
