@billseitz@toolsforthought.social ugh things got really bad the last couple days in Slack browser-use - the 2 windows didn't update from 1 to the other (so you'd keep getting old Unread counts, etc.), and *I lost a post today*/

Words to live by: “whatever you do, don’t try to express the logic of the Internal Revenue Code as YAML”
The evolution of my view of the very rich in three quotes:
"intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic" – /The War of the Worlds/
"they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made" – /The Great Gatsby"

Willard:
Willard: I don't see any method at all, sir.

@boris she's dead, Jim (again).
Is it helpful or redundant/annoying when I tell you? Is there a better channel for telling you?
"Let’s be crystal clear about what just happened: A powerful government official who happens to own a major social media platform (among many other businesses) just declared that naming government employees is criminal (it’s not) and then used his private platform to suppress that information."
Let's also be crystal clear about who is doing actual reporting in this perilous moment. Thank you, Mike.
It's crazy how many times I've said "This is literal Nazi* shit" over the past month.
But making abortion records publicly available information in Indiana is so fucking gross.
Our best young programmer is packing to move to Mexico because she’s a Dreamer and going to be kicked out. She has never lived anywhere else but Southwest, KS.
She’s the perfect example of the “American Dream”. Her parents are immigrants, here originally to work in one of the meat packing plants. She got a high school and community college education and is a self-taught programmer. In one generation she’s a salaried professional programmer. She leads a team now.
If this country isn’t for her, then everything else in the immigration debate is just racism.
@jeffjarvis Trumps team is also dismantling the infrastructure that's supposed to protect against a takeover like this.
I think people are hoping the massive number of lawsuits and constitutional protections will help. But that involves following a rules-based process against someone who doesn't follow the rules and is skilled at avoiding consequences. Pushback will need to include taking some sort of new approach. (I'm feeling very pessimistic at the moment)
The Guardian to the rescue of journalism, calling TrumpMusk's ongoing totalitarian insurrection what it is: a #COUP.
Do read. From the Guardian, it's always a gift link:

I understand why they're doing this but if I was okay with Google being able to lock me out of my password manager then I would simply be using Google's password manager already
