I've been pretty pleased with Draft2Digital for self-publishing. I don't know if they're the best, but they're what I landed on for my book.

I'd also like to draw some attention to the online poetry journal Grand Little Things, as they're (to my knowledge) one of very few journals expressly endorsing and requesting formal poetry.

It's always "School doesn't prepare us for Life well enough, we should be learning to do taxes instead of interpreting poetry" and never "Adult Life should be more poetry and less absurd and complicated tax rules"

#WordWeavers: How much profanity do you include in your story, and why?

There’s very little profanity in most of my books, except the profanity of that world. The one exception is my MC Kat, in my for-adults novella This Is the Worst Timeline. Swearing is her vice of choice (others are REALLY bad choices for an ill-trained shapeshifter) and she wields it constantly to help her deal with the stress of…well, humans.😂

@NanoRaptor cycling by the river and a crow landed on the bike path in front of me, jumped in my way when i tried to go around so i stopped.

it jumped up and down until i dismounted and followed it to a nearby road where some of it's friends were squawking, all clustered around an endangered species of tortoise that couldn't mount the kerb to get to the river.

picked up the tortoise and walked it to the river, it swam off and the crows happily cawed and then all flew off.

I hate to have to do this right before Christmas, but we are in financial trouble here. Unexpected bills (a huge energy bill) plus a broken down car (which I need to get about not being able to walk and not getting any disability benefit) means I am in big trouble no money for food and Christmas right around the corner.
