Timeline freaking out is something I've only really experienced on Twitter.

I also have seen and experienced plenty of interactions in replies, so at least in my experience I haven't seen an issue. At least, my experience across all platforms is about the same.

@eniko I voted for 'use mastodon and twitter', but mastodon is the platform I'm on the least.

I'm mostly on blue sky.

I check twitter a lot for news, as most of the journalists I follow on other platforms still default to twitter first.

I have mastodon open as an afterthought, but when I check, there is rarely anything 'new' here, comparatively.

That said, I mostly use mastodon to see your and George Takei's content since I know y'all're on here mostly.

You ever think about how if governments actually cared about their country's overall economic output that they would've made housing, food, healthcare, education, and transit free long ago? Because the statistical worth of a human life is 7.5 million and providing those things would probably cost somewhere south of 1.5 million, probably much less with economies of scale and no profit motive, which means that governments would be earning 6 million per person per lifetime. For the US that would be 2.1 quadrillion dollars per lifetime for the population, or 27.5 trillion dollars per year, which is more than its current gdp

But wait! There's more! You'd get economies of scale, and my number is based on current market costs. You could probably get that number down by an order of magnitude, but let's be conservative and say it's only 5. That means gdp could be 6 times higher than it currently is under a system that provided all needs

Shame nobody in power gives a shit about actually optimizing economic output

@Xibanya I have no evidence to support this, but I hypothesize that it has to do with the medium used to view the content.

I keep things muted by default on anything viewed on my computer but on my phone the sound is always on.

It takes a bit for me to want to turn the sound on for non-phone social media, so vocal things don't do well for me. I'm always up to see and share pretty things though.
