3. Discovered an HD remake/port of Super Mario 64 (render96ex) is available on Portmaster, and it looks amazing, especially on the RGB30's screen. I have to take it in small doses tho, because the janky camera and imperfect control remind me why I rarely replay this. Still, it looks great so I try to give it a chance and remember the things that made it great

2. Trying to get back into Aria Of Sorrow [GBA]. I loved and 100%-ed this when it first came out, but in the years since I've never been able to fully embrace it and replay it like I have with a lot of other Metroidvanias, which is a shame since it really is one of the best in the genre

I have the excellent EJRTQ romhack, there's the GBC color palette and the SGB palettes, and even AM2R and Samus Returns, but there's something about the way the RGB30 displays Gameboy that I just love playing everything in the original B&W

Recently I discovered that there are HD texture dumps for PlayStation 2 games, where people have dumped the texture files and upscaled them with AI, so combined with turning up the internal rendering resolution you wind up with PS2 games looking really good. I've been having so much fun reliving old PS2 games that I forgot to post anything about it.

I forgot what stupid fun Vice City was, and upscaled textures really help Gauntlet Dark Legacy in the modern day

It's been 40 years and I just found out today that

1) the same person,Yoshiki Okamoto,designed two of my favorite arcade games: Time Pilot and Gyruss, and

2) the NES port of Gyruss actually enhanced the game with bosses and new weapons. I had usually ignored console ports of arcade games, since I practically lived in arcades growing up and saw console ports as inferior.

Mod time: hall effect sticks are still about 10 days out and I decided not to wait. Kapton tape dpad mod from from Better Buttons to reduce unwanted inputs, and replacement buttons from SakuraRetroModding that are lower and rounded. Absolutely love them.

New 2DS XL vs RGB30 - I still love the 3DS and all, but not for emulation anymore. The RGB30 is just such a joy once you get it configured properly

Finally getting into the handheld emulator space, and could not be more thrilled with the RGB30, 2 days in and I absolutely love this thing. Not just for the screen and performance, but console makers need to bring back color options.

I admire this carpenter's dedication to making sure nothing lined up with anything else. It probably took effort to fuck this up
