Talk to me about woodworking, jiu jitsu, security, software defined radio, wool shirts, and cool boots. Also awesome projects like e-ink badges or retro gaming. Send me #eyebleach like dog pics cuz it's still 202x. yes I'm stressed, yes I'm in over my head, and no I wouldn't trade one second of it for an easier time
@taeluralexis I'll let you know when I figure it out๐โ Really though, I think just realizing the pattern, that I was treating everyone like a SME, helped to shift some of that feeling off of me. It took me a second to realize that just because someone is brilliant in one aspect of computering doesn't mean they are experts at all of it. I tended to view myself as 'not as smart' as some of the folks I was working with and honestly it just took time to get over. At some point I did feel a shift to where I was like, 'hell, I'm DOING this job and doing it well, if I lost this job today I could do this same thing somewhere else" and that was the lightbulb moment where its like, yeah, I am doing it, I'm here. It felt good. Not to say that imposter syndrome has completely vanished, I still feel it, just not as intensely as before.
@taeluralexis โโ right here, IT not infosec but same same. but how about this, does not having a degree lead to imposter syndrome? In my case, hell yes it did!
OK folks, we just set up a lemmy community to test it out, its gonna be similar to r/buyitforlife, high quality goods that will last a long time. with all this API price hike drama happening we should be boosting the better alternatives. so please join the "Buy Once, Cry Once" community and lets get some quality in our goods!

I just signed up for #IBMSkillsBuild security training to improve my skillset. I feel I need to catch up like, yesterday on this stuff. Also currently enrolled in #Crowdstrike University through my employer. Anybody have any other cool security labs/videos/books I should be checking out? I know that's pretty broad so think sysadmin new to security role but not new to some security concepts
@Lockdownyourlife checking now, oofah, not lying๐ โ
I'm digging this place so far. All killer no filler, must have been what the birdsite was like before the trolls moved in. Feed today is outstanding
@punchdrunktux absolutely, I enjoy the process of researching issues so it suits me but I have to remind myself that these engineers were not born knowing this stuff. They learned it just like I'm doing.
