The AI snake is already eating its own tail. xAI’s Grok responds with ChatGPT error messages because there’s now so much ChatGPT content on the web that new LLMs are being trained on LLM output.

One can imagine LLMs getting worse over time in much the same way Google Search has gotten worse over time due to SEO spam.

🇫🇮 Finnish police made a shopping list of what they'd like to do with AI. Among other things:
- Automated vehicle recognition
- 1:1 face recognition (no mention of live face rec)
- Recognition of "age, gender and emotions" (but with a "?" at the end)
- "anomaly detection"

(The only topic they mention clearly is traffic regulation and motor crime.)

If I had to bet, I'd say they'll become Palantir clients next year.

@frequentbeef@dice.camp Just do it enough times and it will stick! ;) At least that has been my way in: install a Linux-distro, run for a few months, get frustrated, go back to Windows, get frustrated, go back to Linux again (but this time not having to learn everything from scratch and pick up a few new things along the way). @AtaKeee Yeah, seems like it's the case, been having problems since yesterday (though antennas have been broken for a long time)

@irfan I think this will happen faster now that Gnome looks to be Wayland only in the future and once XFCE and other smaller desktops also gets Wayland or run some kind of Xwayland or compability layer. I've never encountered any major Wayland issues on Ubuntu 22 or 23 luckily

Is the use of "app" vs "program" a generational gap/thing when it comes to PC software? I would never use the word "app" for PC software, though I use it for anything related to smartphones, but my son calls everything an app.
