This part is β€˜special’, too.

β€œBut recent changes in specifications for the image intensifier tubes that are the heart of the binoculars have all but limited those to systems built by U.S.-firms. That, in turn, means the parts would be covered under U.S.-arms export regulations, allowing the United States to control the flow of those critical parts, defence industry representatives say.”

What are we even doing? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

A CBC story today: Major defence contract is set to favour U.S. supplier
seems to be a rewrite of a more directly worded Pugliese column from back in April: #cdnpoli

DND set to consider only U.S.-supplied night-vision binoculars
"Last-minute changes on a $100-million purchase of night-vision equipment have excluded European firms and now favours U.S. manufacturers... requirements unexpectedly amended upon release of final request for quotes issued on March 4."

Brooke Rollins, US Secretary of Agriculture:
"There will be no amnesty. The mass deportations continue but in a strategic way and we move the work force towards automation and 100% American participation, which again with 34 million able-bodied adults on Medicaid, we should be able to do that fairly quickly."

America really never got over losing slave labour.

@AlisonCreekside
Nope. Trump has already floated the trial-balloon of renting out detainees as labour, plus the 13th Amendment in their constitution actually permits slavery for incarcerated persons, so they have their legal loophole.

You watch: once the camps are all set up the next move for the administration to say: β€œWelp, it’s only fair that all these illegals should have to contribute to the cost of their upkeep” and for the prison-industrial complex to start leasing detainees back to the farms, motels and Home Depots that they scooped them up from, for a tidy profit of course.

This is the intersection where end-stage capitalism meets white supremacy. Corporations despise paying for labour, since it represents one of their biggest line-items, and you can’t get cheaper than free (or nearly free).

Whatever can’t be automated will be replaced by slave labour, and the neat thing about prison labour is that anyone can be turned into a criminal with the simple stroke of a pen.

The successor to the e-Golf is the ID.3. Unfortunately VW never exported them to North America because they figured our SUV-obsessed consumers wouldn’t buy them. 🀨

I’m always curious when I see a CT out there in the wild, to see what kind of person is behind the wheel. Unfortunately the way their windows are it’s often difficult to see in. The few drivers I have seen seem like just normal folks. #TheyWalkAmongUs

I’ve been running into a few Ford E-Transit electric cargo vans when charging. They’re way cheaper than the CT, and can hold a crap-ton more in a secure, dry compartment. Seems like a no-brainer. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

We need to try to stop using the term "historic" when discussing extreme weather events in this new climate we've created by continuing to burn fossil fuels for far too long.

(Sorry, you’ve gotten me going now) πŸ˜‰

Photo of a white Japanese β€˜kei’ truck parked nose-to-nose with typical late-model Chevy pickup. Despite the obvious difference in size (the Chevy dwarfs the kei truck), the cargo bed in the kei appears larger.

As an example:

Well, it appears there is a more modern card available.

First photo: an example of the old-school card. Second photo: a more modern example card with security features.

I wonder what the rollout timeline looks like? πŸ€”
