The #Neuengamme #ConcentrationCamp opened on #ThisDayInHistory in 1938, providing #SlaveLabour for the #Nazis throughout the war. 43,000 were killed at the site. After the war, the city of #Hamburg demolished it and built new prisons on the site, showing how little people learn.

We don’t really know exactly where Chaldea was, still less how they or their slaves dressed, and the text accompanying this illustration in Redpath’s book was not relevant to it. I doubt we know whether female slaves did this work of grinding wheat or other grains to make flour or meal.
But it’s an illustration of slave labour.
