Dragon Friend

Christian, reptile enthusiast, and game developer.
Here be dragons.

Work continues (slowly) on my #Thief FM. I've been adding windows to the manor, and a few other decorations. There are still a few things left to do with the geometry. Pretty soon I'm going to start room brushing.

#ScreenshotSaturday #gamedev #LevelDesign

A fullbright screenshot of the dromed editor for Thief/Thief 2, showing a WIP mission. The screenshot shows a large manor with light textures, and the surrounding grounds. The front door of the manor and many windows are visible. A gated garden is visible on the right of the building.

Goodbye for now Buttercup. You were such an amazing leopard gecko, and God taught me so many things through you. You were always so curious and inquisitive and friendly. You were such a silly girl. Every moment with you was a delight. I love you so, so, so much. I know we'll meet again in heaven and enjoy our Creator for all eternity.

An adorable patternless leopard gecko in her enclosure. She's facing left, with most of her body visible. She's underneath a black arch at the entrance to a cave made of tiles. The leopard gecko is deeper inside the cave, which is spacious. Her whole body is visible and her head is turned to the camera. From this angle, she looks like she has a big smile on her face. The leopard gecko is standing on a stump, with a fake leaf decoration next to her. She has her head lifted and angled to see over the top of the leaf, and she's looking at the camera. The gecko is standing on top of the cave from an earlier photo. It's a close-up with her in the center of the image. Her head and neck are visible, and the photo is taken from a low angle. She's watching the camera.

When I started making this #ThiefFM last year, I hoped to finish it by the 25th anniversary of Thief 2 this month. That definitely didn't happen! Still, it's come a long way. Enjoy a before/after of the creation of the main staircase. It's not complete, but the basic design is done. #thief #gamedev

A screenshot of the dromed level editor. It's displaying a view looking over and slightly down toward the "greyboxing" initial build phase of a staircase. The "staircase" is made of ramps, and everything is covered in the "Jorge" texture.Another screenshot of the staircase in dromed. The staircase has been built and textured. It's meant to have a regal and slightly gaudy look, with lots of marble and red carpet, with decorated wood.

Buttercup!

A patternless leopard gecko in her habitat, facing left. Her back half is hidden behind one of her decorations. The same gecko in a different pose, in the center of the image. Only her head and neck are visible, and she is eyeing the camera.

They missed a real opportunity for "Hello World" in #ziglang to instead be "We get signal!"

I have acquired raspberry pi! Will I manage to do anything with it? Maybe!

Here's Buttercup being cute #reptile #reptiles

A patternless leopard gecko standing and peeking out from one of her hides. Just her head and (barely) her front legs are visible.Pretty much the same as the other photo

The Snake Discovery calendar arrived! #reptiles

A photo of a Snake Discovery calendar, featuring an alligator, a snapping turtle, and some adorable hognoses hatching from their eggs (including twins!)

I am so, so blessed to be able to care for a leopard gecko. Such a beautiful and wonderful creature!

I forgot to post this earlier today, but Merry Christmas! I hope you've been having a wonderful and blessed day! Have a video of Buttercup: #reptiles #leopardgecko

I remember reading that stairs are rather painful to do in #dromed... after I had planned a mission with a large spiral staircase. Yeah, it's a bit of a pain! Halfway done though, then the beautifying begins! (Photo later when it's complete) #thief #gamedev

Well, the #gamedev weekend went reasonably well. I didn't actually end up having much time to work on the game, but I did get my weekend goals for the project done. I'll take it.

Working on my #shmup project today. I'm using a bullet library that looked to be fully-featured, but interacting with it in the way it wants has been very fiddly. Nearing the point where it would have been faster to write it myself, but that would add additional work to the project now... #gamdev

Happy Thanksgiving for everyone celebrating, and happy day for everyone else too! Why should thankfulness be limited to one day per year?
I'm very thankful for the many blessings in my life, such as this precious leopard gecko.

A little over a week until Pax Unplugged :o

@tartley Definitely some of my favorite games too! Enjoy The Black Parade! I liked it a lot, even though some of the missions are honestly a little too large. It's definitely one of the best Thief FM experiences I've had.

Anyone else love the original #Thief games? I've been working on a little something in my spare time. It's still quite early, but I'm excited for what it will become.

(Also, am I the only one who finds working in #dromed to be a little addicting? I can edit a level for hours without realizing it!)

@mizarc They look pretty great to me. Cute is an accurate description.
