The only good Nazi is a dead Nazi.

When I was a child in the 1970s, plenty of adults said this, and it was a completely uncontroversial thing for a person to say.

If saying that gets your post moderated, then the platform in question is a safe-space for Nazis.

I'd like to take a moment to congratulate all Americans for now legally being defined as women.

According to Executive Order 14168 (federalregister.gov/documents/), the "biological truth" of the genders has been legally defined:

(d) “Female” means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell.
(e) “Male” means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the small reproductive cell.

Here's the problem, turns out that the universe isn't taking attendance at the time of conception and handing out little pink and blue genderino badges before your gonads even exist. At the moment of conception, EVERY embryo's default state is set to produce, eventually, the larger reproductive cell (the ova). It's not until 6-8 weeks AFTER conception that the Y chromosome, if present and activated, decides to show up to the party and begin the process of differentiation into a body that will, eventually, produce the smaller reproductive cell (the sperm).

So, once again, I'd like to congratulate literally everybody in America for, at this moment, being legally AFAB.

Remember those graphs about how social distanced works? Where every dropped node had knock-on effects of increasers safety? Deleting Meta/Facebook apps from your phone is a form of data distancing, where you get to see your friends as much as you like, but you keep them safe by deleting spyware.

You can still use Instagram via the website.

Maybe it takes more decades on the planet than Sarah McBride has at her disposal but society ALWAYS responds with a backlash after a hated, marginalized group gains some degree of greater rights and public visibility. ALWAYS.

The reason why the government, society, and cis people are responding with a full spectrum bigoted push back is not because trans people pushed too hard for our rights, it's because we had the temerity to push for our rights *at* *all*.

They want silence and complicity.

The street that my mum lives in is a one-way street, but wasn't marked as such on #Google Maps. This caused many drivers to drive the wrong way. I have tried to edit it on Google Maps (there is such functionality), but to no avail. No matter how often I submitted a change (with photos of street signs!), Google said "Sorry, we could not verify it".

Solution: Edit the street on #OpenStreetMap! A few months after I did this, Google seems to have stolen the data, as it regularly does, and now the street is correct in both datasets!

If you have a Dem senator, do not assume they will challenge the all-ages trans healthcare funding ban in the budget bill. Call them *today*. I’m squeezing my calls in between meetings. Cis folks doing “We support trans kids,” please please be on this.

The decision in Skrmetti lets politicians create their own evidence to justify banning necessary healthcare. It's bad, writes @evanurquhart.bsky.social. Not just for trans people, but for anyone whose healthcare is or could potentially be politically contested. Read more here:

Few things infuriate me as much as someone posting screenshots or pictures of text pages and then just writing "screenshot of a text" or "a text page in a book" in the ALT text.

Visually impaired people have the same right to information as sighted people! It's not accessible to exclude us from the written content. And no, a brief summary like "a funny text about dogs" isn't accessible either. At least give some more details if you don't want to type out the whole text.

Stop excluding us!

Cognitive aids do not "make people dumb" and cognitive impairment does not change anything about someone's inherent worth as a member of our community. I am certainly troubled by the political alignment and uses of AI in the world but I will never sign on to a dehumanizing narrative about cognition just because I think it might work against the uses of AI I disagree with. We need better arguments than that.

@Dynamicallydisabled Better yet, black out their faces. Blurring can be reversed.

Hey. Stop posting pictures of people at protests. Blur their faces. Get consent. Be better please, you are putting people in danger.

Some of you protesting are far too into publicly posting identifiable pics and videos of folks in protest crowds without good reason.

If you brought a camera to the protest point it at the authorities, not your compatriots. Document and publicize incidents of abuse, but don't facilitate your fellow protestors being identified and punished for showing up. Assume every face you post will be recognized and catalogued. They're not there to be your photo op.

Fun fact about proving your citizenship!

My kid was naturalized along with my wife (her mother) a couple years ago. My kid is still a minor, and cannot apply for a certificate of naturalization until she turns 18, and then it's anyone's guess how long the DOGE-neutered State Dept will take to issue her piece of paper.

In other words, you can be naturalized as an infant and have no way to prove it until well after your 18th birthday.
