FoodForestNetwork

Food forests are agriculture and nature conservation in one. They produce high-quality food and at the same time combat the environmental crises of our time. Our mission is to bring more and more food forests into the world and thus drive forward the transformation of agriculture. That's why we network with people and projects who want to contribute to this. Together we promote knowledge, development, research and financing of Food Forests

1/2 : Dinner is being served...it is 2040...
🟣 How does what we eat today affect future generations, and how much will it cost them?
🔴 How will we eat when global temperatures rise by 3 or 4 degrees above pre-industrial levels?
🟢 What are Planetary Health diets, and what incentive mechanisms support a shift toward them?

As of today, there is an interesting MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) from Wageningen University & Research.

Will this technology also be applicable to complex agroforestry systems? Interesting question, let's find it out!

Schau dir unsere neue Homepage an: FoodForest.Network.

We're now accepting applications for our (as I find) pretty innovative and interdisciplinary Master program in Agriculture, Ecology & Societies at @unikassel, dealing with the challenges of sustainability transitions in the agricultural and food system. uni-kassel.de/uni/en/study/agr

This Christmas, you can sow seeds of hope. Give the gift of a symbolic tree that will grow far beyond the holidays and take deep root in our food forest projects in Germany, Ghana, Spain and Senegal.
Every tree becomes part of an ecological guild - a plant community that strengthens each other and thrives together.
Take a look at all the trees and their guilds!

Biodiversity, the diversity of life on Earth, is in an unprecedented crisis. Species are disappearing every day and scientists estimate that we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction. The current rate of species extinction is up to 100 times faster than in the entire history of mankind. Of particular concern is the decline of insects, whose biomass has fallen by up to 75% in some regions - with devastating effects on plant pollination and the health of our ecosystems.

When was the last time you drank water from a river or lake? Think about it .... The quality of the water in our rivers and lakes is closely linked to the way we farm our planet. Unfortunately, our precious water reserves are also being strained by industrial agriculture.

Agroforestry systems offer hopeful solutions to this problem!

It almost sounds to good to be true: Food Forests produce an abundance of various foods while enhancing biodiversity, building fertile soil and storing large amounts of CO2. They do not need pesticides and can thrive even under difficult climatic conditions.

💡 In short, they're exactly what we need to solve today's ecological and agricultural problems.
