@M0KHR to be on the safe side I use common mode chokes (like the one in my profile pic) on the feedline, since some equipment is anecdotally more susceptible to be damaged by stray RF, but I keep my distance from the aerial.

Not a rhetorical question nor a complaint: why experimenter boards and SDRs have defaulted to SMA connectors? Why not BNC? Is it because of size? Cost?
