Tomorrow is 8 April, International Roma Day. The umbrella term ‘Roma’ was adopted by the first World Romani Congress in London 54 years ago, in 1971. Along with the Romani flag and the Romani anthem, its adoption marks a significant milestone in the emancipation of Roma.
8 April was officially declared the International Roma Day during the International Romani Union’s 4th World Romani Congress in 1990 in Serock, Poland.
