This photo of a black oystercatcher was taken at dusk at Mavericks. The bird is demurely lifting its pink right leg so we can see its long pink toes and the toes are also reflected in the puddle next to the bird.

The bird is jet black. Its long beak and eye are bright red. The water around the green seaweed upon which the bird is standing is pale blue. We see patches of seaweed scattered in the water.
