Adulthood is realizing Superman comics aren’t fantasy about how good it would be to have power; they’re a fantasy about what it would be like if someone with power was good.
@pejacoby ooh that sounds good
Welcome to Canada. Okay so what you need to understand is that if you see a link to "the Walrus" that's a real news article but if you see a link to "the Beaver" that's a fake news article
Strathcona Beer company at the Lonsdale Quay
- Headbanger TIPA 9.2% with galaxy hops - melon with bitter herbs, highly recommend
- Belgian Double 8% decent double though light on punch and a bit sweet for my taste
- banana porter 7.5% fragrance of a lit candle and taste of the best banana ice cream pudding
- Chai spiced stout 6,8% - but odd very floral and some pink pepper corn . I like odd so I'm good w this :)
Brussels sprouts are also excellent . My only comment would be that the place feels like the late night diner where Harry Potter did not get to meet the cute girl
@pejacoby @gamergull you are welcome- maybe we should meet up for a pint or hike :)
@gamergull @pejacoby Lynn Valley head waters also has some great hikes and connects to the Seymour demonstration forest.
@gamergull @pejacoby fully agree w Thomas (hi Thomas, nice to meet you!) Vancouver's North Shore has amazing hiking trails. There is also a brewery district ! Try wild eye, Beere, north point, etc
@pejacoby @gamergull What sort of things are you interested in?

Friendly reminder that none of us can be truly free if any of us is not free; if any of us is threatened.
This is at the core of solidarity. And I saw lots of it a yesterday's protest. Flags, posters and chants expressing solidarity with the trans community, Palestine, POC, Indigenous people, feminism, people with disabilities, the labor movement, Latin America, youth, the unhoused.

Hmm... I might be doing more virtual speaking engagements rather than in-person in the near future...

This tweet summarizes why I’ll stop debating AI productivity in 2026. It’s now clear that using AI agents is itself a skill and the question is more if & how you teach people these skills versus debating whether AI tools make people more productive.

People are like water. They'll take the path of least resistance. Trying to convince them to do the hard thing is a nonstarter for basically everyone.
It's probably less convenience and more the fact that we live in a complicated world where everything is difficult, but sometimes, it's just that what's convenient is what's easier.
People will switch to Linux when Windows is less easy for them than switching to Linux (or what seems easy, even if the differences are - honestly - negligible). People will change to electric cars when it's easier for them to switch to electric cars than to just stick with gasoline.
People will overthrow fascism when it's harder to put up with fascism than it is for them to overthrow it.
This is why the world sucks and why I don't see it ever NOT sucking.
