"The phrase has popped into my mind repeatedly this week because if I don’t find a way to create a healthy distance from the existential morass of the current moment with gallows humor, the frustration and anger threaten to overwhelm me."

@smaniktahla, I quit FB some time back and I am pleased to say that I don't miss it. (There are a couple of people I miss, but not the app.)

Just thinking about better ways to penalize corporations that break the law.

Fines are trivial and never keep pace with reality. Instead, what if companies had to give back a chunk of shares to the government? Issuing new shares that dilute existing shareholder value, and making the govt part owners. Effectively, nationalize the company in degrees with every breach of trust.

@mloxton, I am learning to deeply appreciate the fine art of smart passive aggression. 😁

The Trumpenreich invasion of LA has objectively brought out the worst in fascist regime officials, but it's also loosened their tongues as many of them can apparently taste the authoritarian cracker cultural dictatorship they openly crave peeking out from the smoke of burning Waymo taxis. I've pointed out repeatedly that failure to pay attention to what fascist leaders openly admit they're trying to do, or take those threats seriously, is a huge part of why we're in this terrifying political and cultural moment; right now, with their lips unguarded and all the unearned confidence of white supremacists who think they're on the right side of a fascist takeover, the regime is letting slip valuable intelligence on what their plans are, and how they intend to implement them.

The media is dutifully reporting these comments and confessions, but because nobody in the establishment takes Trump's chucklefuck brand of fascism seriously, those comments are not being analyzed; nor will they be remembered in the fullness of time despite how crucial they are to unlocking what Trumpism is, where its going next, and how it intends to get there.

Unfortunately, I am a one woman news and propaganda analysis operation here, and even I'm overwhelmed by the sheer amount of fascist fuckery bursting forth out of the regime's invasion of LA; with no sign of an end or abatement in site, quite frankly. I can't talk about everything; in fact five days into this shitshow I'm not even sure I can remember everything anymore.

Because my method of analyzing American fascism involves closely watching (and remembering) what powerful American fascists say and do, and because I think this information is useful even outside of whatever analysis I write, I've decided I'm going to include a new "They Said It" segment here on the blog. These are just going to be short quotes, with a listed source, from regime officials and affiliated propagandists that I think illuminate something about the larger fascist project. I need to keep them handy for future analysis, and I think Americans at large might like to know more about what their nazi leaders are saying to justify or amplify all this nazi authoritarian bullshit. I'll try not to clutter the blog, but there's already at least 20 things these assclown nazis have said that someone *needs* to keep track of and talk about; right now I'm literally drowning here.

Let's do the first one here and now:

US attorney for the central district of California, Bill Essayli - promoting a fascist right wing conspiracy theory that protesting Angelinos were paid insurrectionists and agitators; a conspiracy Trump is also simultaneously spreading but denying he is doing so.

"At the press conference earlier, US attorney for the central district of California, Bill Essayli, had also fed into Trump’s claim that the protestors are “paid insurrectionists”, saying that anti-Ice protests in Los Angeles appear to be “organized and orchestrated”.

“Well-funded agitators are coming into town and they are resisting federal law enforcement operations,” he said."

Bill also had some choice observations that should tell you a lot about what kind of person he is (hint: he's a Trump-humping cracker supremacist nazi.)

“Some people really seem to have the notion that California is a sanctuary from federal immigration laws,” says Essayli. “Let me assure you: there is no sanctuary. Federal laws are applicable here and they will be enforced.”

"Essayli claims Trump “had no choice” but to call in the national guard to assist “overwhelmed” law enforcement officers."

@fatsam, I loved it so much that I turned around after the series was over and watched the whole thing again. 😁

@fatsam, I really enjoyed Dept. Q. The Syrian "admin" was my favorite character. If you like that one, you'll really like Slow Horses (assuming you're not already watching it).

@TonyStark @MariaHill @MJ The fact that they always said “white” working class anxiety tells you what the reason really was.

Most people with ACTUAL economic anxiety voted for Harris.

Hey.

Graphic showing a bunch of women who are interested in one man, the one man is saying "Welp, here I go punching Nazis again."

Beneath the Nazi puncher are a line of men in whom the women are not interested. They have a Nazi flag, a Confederate battle flag, a thin blue line flag, a Tesla flag, and a trump/vance flag.

Caption for the entire image is: cure for the male loneliness epidemic: stop being a douche.

The antidote to materialism isn't minimalism; it's maintenance. Keep things. Fix them. Mend them. Grow old with possessions you know well because you've cared for them.

@godpod, seriously. That might have been the thing I valued about the Biden presidency the most: the quiet, non-drama sense that competency and reason were being applied to issues. (Granted, some very complex problems were not being dealt with in the wisest, most realistic ways.)

First, they'll ask for your official IDs to confirm your age and identity.

This will create a large treasure trove
of sensitive data, which will attract criminals, and will inevitably leak from either negligence or malice, sooner than later.

Then, they'll claim your official ID is
unreliable, because it was stolen so many times, and demand you share your biometric data.

They will collect your face scan,
your palm scan, and even your iris scan (no exaggeration, these are all already being collected by some companies for identification). They will claim it's super safe.

This will create a large treasure trove
of sensitive biometric data, which will attract criminals, and will inevitably leak from either negligence or malice, sooner than later.

Then what? Rinse and escalate.

You will have lost control of not just your corporate social media accounts by participating to this, but to any data capable of validating your identity, to your privacy rights, to the protections you could use online to stay safe.

We don't have to wait that it escalates.

We can, and must, push back and say No now. Start to say No now.
