The mind behind Cogmind, the mind-blowing sci-fi roguelike. Game design blogging and ASCII like you've never seen before.
Also developed the popular free ANSI art/dev tool REXPaint.
Writes stuff as well as shares roguelikes by other devs.

Been seeing an increasing number of interesting roguelike projects pop up over the last couple months! Here's a WIP image from Mete (shared on the r/RoguelikeDev Discord here: https://discord.com/channels/205277826788622337/206169610284826626/1385705588272660620).

@thkaspar Guess what... with the new release Runia is back, and your Beta 14-15 robot tiles have been printed in glorious 3D form!
(also been hoping to work with you on some new ones for upcoming releases this year as content gets increasingly wild--players have been loving your work on the UFD faction)
Hey! If you didn't know, Valve takes 30% of every game sale indies make (they actually take less for AAA studios, WTF). The Epic Games Store takes 12% (less than half!) normally, and has announced they are going to be taking 0% on the first million (ha ha), then back to the regular 12%. Amazing. https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/news/new-epic-games-store-webshops-and-revenue-share-update
@eric_normandeau Oh dang, bought multiple copies over the years?! Than you, support like that helps keep the versions coming :D
(also sorry for late reply, my Mastodon wasn't updating notifications apparently...)
@gibibit As do I, but I dunno, I've seen people really just cling to LLMs for everything, regardless of how unreliable they are... In any case, they did get proper advice from real people afterward!
#Cogmind Beta 15 "0bPrime" is released!
The epic conclusion to the UFD expansion is here, bringing with it a major new map, 100 new items, and Cogmind's 10th unique ending!

For the first time today a player showed up in the community frustrated about not being able to solve some end-game content in Cogmind, but the content they described did not exist so we were all pretty confused. It turns out they had been following a guide written by LLM xD

@thkaspar Yeah I really liked them, dog is great and the puma is neat! of course breaking the rules, but that's okay it's fan art :)
(clippy is in there from an inspiration you likely aren't familiar with: there's a "clippyterm" machine that can be found in a particular cave, with "helpful" info on it)
@thkaspar For your viewing pleasure, more have appeared :)

@josemachete79 Ah wonderful, I used to pick up a lot of cool RP works to share on the site back when I was using Twitter, sadly no longer so I don't have as much exposure to that stuff anymore, but I still do at least see what some (mostly devs) are doing with it in the rldev discord!
@josemachete79 Hey thanks! I don't post a whole ton these days, but if there's news or something interesting about roguelikes, it may indeed end up here :)
@thkaspar Yeah I thought you might find that interesting :D
I guess in theory it could work for a 2x2, instead of taking up the entire four cells just use the middle section, wonder how that would look in practice amidst other things--whether it stands out too much or not...
There are fewer such large bots, to be sure, though also there are better mechanics for supporting them now, so who knows maybe one in the future?
@denisbloodnok It used to be handled in a custom online system, but that was many years ago, now it's done via a single google spreadsheet yeah... could have an account just for that specifically? (then delete the account with prejudice :P)
@exquisitecorp It is indeed fun, interesting, and informative to learn about and play a lot of the different submissions each year.
@exquisitecorp No problem, can always use more reviewers, and you can do (almost) as little or as much as you like, so happy reviewing :)
@exquisitecorp If you're curious, I covered a bit about the reviewing process at the beginning of this old 2019 video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB4hcnezryc
