In the podcast, Sold a Story, I can't remember which episode it was, but they mention that sesame street and PBS kids helped some kids learn to read and pronounce words, and from my own anecdote, reinforces children with an already strong understanding in a specific subject.
It is without a doubt the BEST alternative to TikTok and fortnite for young children left unsupervised by their parents. Regardless of what you think about their news programming, you cannot doubt, that PBS kids is a GOOD for society. In a country without universal childcare and where headstart programs are in question, PBS kids supplements their growth and understanding of our world.
It is of paramount importance that everyone contact their local representatives, URGING them to protect public media!
From personal anecdotes, PBS kids educated me in things like science, english, and spelling. In part, learning a few extra words from Word Girl and learning to pronounce long words from the electric company has helped me even towards college.
