Bunkerfest 25
MidSARC - a small friendly group who are passionate about all things amateur radio. We have members based all around the Mid-Somerset area, from quirky Glastonbury to magnificent Wells. Whilst we hold regular club nets we also meet on the 2nd Monday of each month in the historic market town of Shepton Mallet, so do drop by and say hello.
Our 2M Club nets are every Monday at 20:00 UK Local (except for Club Meetings) and every Friday at 15:00 Uk Local.
Announcing: https://justaqrcode.com.
Tired of "free" QR code generators that are full of ads and trackers, that share your data, and that want to sell you something? Me too. Here's my act of resistance: I made a one-page site that works entirely in your browser to generate a simple QR code. And that's all it does. You can download the HTML page and run it locally, even. Read the source; nothing up my sleeves. Just a QR code.
My offer to you -- I will continue to pay for the domain name and web hosting for it, myself. If you find it valuable, you can pay it back by creating your own useful thing for the world and releasing it for free. Let's take back the friendly web, one vexingly-monetized utility at a time!
Just a reminder for those who can make it, of the Social Meeting at The Quarter Jack m, Wells Bank Hol Monday 26th May 2025 from 2PM. Not a member, don’t worry we love meeting new people. #MidSARC #amateurradio
@k8vsy escapades sounds brilliant.
@F4LUB I’m really sorry. Would loved to have worked you.
Now we’re back to somewhere with decent mobile coverage - the irony hasn’t escaped us in regard to the HF connectivity, we thought you’d like to see where we were as well as our map of Mill contacts.
Also we hope we’ve not tried your patience today with our posts but we’re super stoked to be operating and the ability to toot whilst we did it was just too much too resist.
Do let us know if you’d like us to toot along.
Just moved frequencies to 7.157MHz and we’ve just passed our 65th contacts for that day. We’re even had a couple of mini-pile ups. #MillsOnTheAir #hamradio
@mhunter709 shame, we’d loved to have heard from you. Well we’ve moved over to 7.117 currently. We’re suffering all kinds of QRM. None of it coming from the water mill.
Ok we’re operating as GB2BM on 7.179MHz for Mills on the Air please come and work us. #MillsonTheAir #hamradio
Bit of a late announcement but we will be operating on the 10th of May from Burcott Watermill near Wells as part of Mills on the Air. Listen out for us as GB2BM. Bands permitting we will be operating on 40m. Also if you are in the area pop in and see us. We love visitors. #MillsOnTheAir #hamradio
Well this is concerning. We woke up to a threatening email from a Chinese company who trade under MIDSARC in China and they are demanding we surrender the domain midsarc.radio to them. Anyone got any suggestions as if we have to fight this we just haven't got the money in the kitty. I think we may need to talk to the .radio TLD holder in the first instance.
Anyone know how we can find a list of UK Amateur Radio clubs that are on Mastodon? We'd love to connect to others on here. #amateur_radio #RSGB
We have had a fun evening setting up from Tomorrow's International Marconi Day. We will be operatinfg from the ex-Marconi Recieving Station in Somerton from 09:00 BST until around 16:00BST.

40m from 10:00 - 12:00 BST
20m from 12:00 - 16:00BST
2m - All day.
Please do listen out for us.

https://www.danlynch.org/blog/2024/09/oggcamp-rides-again/ - Updated my blog with a post about #OggCamp2024 Can't wait to see everyone in Manchester next month. It's gonna be fun! There's still time to book #Event #opensource #freeculture
Update on yesterday’s #CHOTA event which was a success despite some interesting propagation challenges. The club G5RV antenna went up without drama and operating as GB6SBC on 40m we worked 14 of the 40 or so UK CHOTA stations, plus around 40 or so others.
Conditions were poor at the start but improved aoroud 12:00 UTC until arounnd 15:00 UTC when everything closed. Signals rapidly disappeared leaving nothing
but noise, all due the recent solar activity. Still it was good fun. #AmateurRadio
Well things are moving on a pace for our participation with Churchs on the Air this coming Saturday (14/09/2024). We will be setting up at Shepton Mallet Baptist Church (BA4 5BU) from 08:30 UTC and aiming to up and running around 09:00 UTC. We will be operating on 40m with the special event callsign GB6SBC. #CHOTA #AmateurRadio #HamRadio
