John Mac & Ruthanne Kah are two good friends of mine. They are very generous people who have helped many other artists in the community through their Saints of Paint organization. Their studio was destroyed during Helene. Please help them out if you're in a position to do so.

Rugged mountain woman shows what life in Marshall, NC is really like after the flooding from Helene. Take it from me, she is so very WNC. And this is a very real disaster like I've never seen before.

Can't seem to think about anything but the disaster in my other home state, NC, and all my friends there. Most of them have checked in, but I still haven't heard from two elderly friends who live in Swannanoa where much of the flooding happened.

Apparently, my former home of Asheville NC got hit by severe flooding due to Helene. It might seem counterintuitive that a mountainous area would be prone to flooding, but Asheville very much is. It's in a valley and all the runoff from the mountains races into it. Helene is like Ivan and Frances in 2004 all over again. Best wishes to all my friends who live there.

My favorite film of hers is The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. It was the film that really established her internationally, and it's almost like she's playing a young Professor McGonagall. 😢

There! It's settled. As I've been saying for years, The Epic of Gilgamesh is a gay romance story. The Metatron has spoken.

"Concepts of a plan" has become the new "binders full of women" and the dog- and cat-eating thing is just effing bonkers.

Well, if nothing else, we can add El-Sisi to the list of dictators that Trump loves. "My favorite dictator."

Pre-debate hint: you'll know how much Adderall Trump has snorted by how often he sniffs. I suspect it'll be a lot.

If you're being paid millions of dollars to spew anti-American/pro-Russian garbage, who in the hell do you think is paying for that?

Those YouTubers knew exactly what they were doing. They can play the victim all they want, but they knew they were traitors when they took the money.

Why has Max Headroom never been released on video?

I realized today that he was likely the inspiration for the appearance and mannerisms of Kryton in Red Dwarf, including his occasional glitching. I don't know why that never occurred to me before.

I tried working out again in the gentlest manner possible with exercise bands, and I somehow gave myself tennis elbow. Considering I got a D in tennis in college and haven't tried to play since, this is extremely ironic.

Still finishing up the prior non-fiction book by adding and updating illustrations, but I wrote the first new words on the next novel. I'm very happy with the layers of meaning the passage produces. I hope to begin writing in earnest soon.

Serious question for writers— What do you mean by "draft"?

If you say "I wrote 3 drafts of my book" what does that mean? Does it mean you wrote it and then edited it 2 times? If so, how heavily? Or does it mean you started over from the beginning 3 times?

Let's get this settled once and for all. "Infer" is passive and on the part of the listener. "Imply" is active and on the part of the speaker. The speaker implies something; the listener infers something. Inferring does not mean to suggest something. It means to read between the lines of what someone is saying, whether they are intentionally implying something or not.
