As someone who enjoys VR from time to time, I hope the concept of the metaverse dies for good, It's ruined VR for me.

As much as I hate being old, I am so grateful that my personal time-stream lined up with Tom Baker's, and that I got to watch him in Doctor Who on Saturday nights in the 1970s.

Yes, today I can stream the same episodes, mega-restored in ultra-high-def whatever, but I'd much rather be watching at my Nan's house, sitting impatiently through the Grandstand teleprinter and Basil Brush's interminable jokes...

Happy Birthday, Tom, and thanks for the wonderful memories.

The 4th Doctor, Tom Baker, poses with a Dalek for a photoshoot.

You know, as much as I hate being old, I am so grateful that my personal time-stream lined up with this man's, and that my younger incarnation got to watch him in Doctor Who on Saturday nights back in the day.

Of course, today, you can stream those same episodes, mega-restored in ultra-high-def whatever, but honestly, I'd rather be watching at my Nan's house... sitting impatiently through the Grandstand teleprinter and Basil Brush's interminable jokes as I waited to accompany the greatest Time Lord of them all on another thrilling adventure.

Oh, and those delicious cliff-hangers endings... You knew it was coming, but when the theme-tune would come crashing in I'd feel it - physically - like I was being hit in the chest by a great tidal wave. I'd surf that wave through the weekend, only to be left washed up at school on a Monday morning and desperate for Saturday to come round again (and, boy, didn't the days just seem to crawl back then - I wish they did now).

Tom Baker's Doctor Who wasn't just a television programme, it was the wallpaper that covered the bedroom of my existence... or something... no, forget that, I'm getting a bit carried away now, sorry. However, it really was something truly special, and if you didn't get to experience Doctor Who at its peak then I feel sorry for you.

I watched #TheWarGames - in black and white!

I think it's wonderful; how the story morphs and grows as the serial progresses, how it ends its era dropping so many threads that would be picked up in #DoctorWho future by keeping things vague enough to be developed, rather than be dead ends.

Remarkably for a 10-parter it in no way drags, even the run about eps have a [sort of] point and develops that widening story.

The ending ep kills me and I love and despair at Jamie and Zoe's ending. Especially Zoe's; she grew a lot in her time and it's all gone and she knows, some part of her at the end KNOWS she's forgotten something and I hate it and love it. #DoctorWhoRewatch

jamie in the war games talking to - I think the redcoat (off screen) - he looks at him menacingly, holding some sort of stick that I imagine is actually a weapon but it's not clear. He says "now look, just you listen to me a moment..." as he's moving closer to them

It's really awesome how many people have started using Bluesky and Fediverse - It's so much less annoying to me than Twitter, at least from a UI perspective. I'll still post across all my socials anyway because I Have Plans™, but just thought I'd put that appreciation out there.

Patrick Troughton episode. The Doctor, Jamie (his lover) and Victoria are standing inside some kind of base in the future, and you can tell because there’s a big wheel on the wall with numbers and stuff and random pie charts on it. Jamie is wearing some kind of future space jacket because it has a Weird Collar and diamond stitching. They’re all looking at something on the ground. The Doctor says, “Quite safe now. The power cable generated an electrical field that confused their tiny metal minds. They’ve had a complete *metal* breakdown.” Jamie turns to look to him, wincing, and says “Ooh.” The Doctor turns to him apologetically and says, “I’m so sorry, Jamie.”
