I2P Metrics noticed:
+ a huge number of I2P routers joining the network, from 53K on Feb 4 jumping to 301K relays on Feb 5.
+ while this seems to be a DDoS attempt with new routers coming from all over the world, the vast majority of them are from the US.

It might be good if I clarified how Mastodon works, as some people think they need to sign up on multiple servers etc.
Short version: You do not need to sign up on multiple servers! Don't have FOMO! One server works fine!
Longer version:
Mastodon is a federated network, which means it's made of lots of independent servers that talk to each other.
And... everyone uses federated networks all the time! You probably use them so much you never even think about it 😮
Telephones use a federated network, so does email.
You only need one phone to call anyone anywhere. It doesn't matter if they're on another phone company or in another country, because all phone companies are federated together into a single network.
That's how Mastodon works. You get an account, and you follow people you're interested in, and they appear in your timeline. It doesn't matter if they're on another server.

I am thinking about getting my first domain name. It has been a long time coming anyway, and I think it would also help my portfolio to have a nice spot where I can display the things I have done.
I have yet to do my own research on it, but I would like to hear some outside opinions of what you all have used.
Perhaps the reason users stick around on the social media platforms they claim to hate is that they're lying. Or maybe they just love the people they'd have to leave behind more than they hate the platforms.

Since a few weeks ago, I have noticed a spike in connections. Usually it would be just 3 a day but now its around 7 or more. I have spare bandwidth and it does not slow anything down noticeably, and I am contemplating running an instance overnight on my homeserver.
Once you get it installed, there are three main options to bypass censorship, paraphrased from their website:
1. You can select a public bridge. These are easy to block though.
2. Select 'Snowflake' from the bridge drop down menu.
3. You can use a 'Private and unlisted obfs4 bridges' and put in your own bridge, and you can get one from members of the community or by emailing frontdesk@torproject.org.
4. The 'meek-azure' option in the drop down will make it seem like you are browsing a Microsoft website, but this option is very slow.
