Naar de letter is het dat nog wel, want het bericht gaat E2E van a naar b, maar goed, als je de inhoud aan één van de (of beide) uitgangen alsnog naar de cloud stuurt (hoe private dan ook), kun je gewoon niet meer vol houden dat "niemand anders dan zender en ontvanger" toegang heeft tot de berichten.

N.a.v. een gesprek hierover in een besloten groep kwam ik er achter dat WhatsApp werkt aan een manier om de end-to-end encrypted berichten (toch) te kunnen gebruiken om AI te trainen.

Dan zijn ze misschien op papier nog wel end-to-end encrypted, maar dat gaat natuurlijk nogal voorbij aan het oorspronkelijke doel ervan, en uitzetten kan alleen per groep.

Daar is zó veel mis mee, dat ik het niet in één toot kreeg, dus even zo:

So whatsapp sent me a message about how secure they are right after I set an autoresponse message telling people to find me on Signal. It could be a coincidence, but at this point.... The optics are not great, Meta.
