@rohanconnolly65.bsky.social on footyology you were asking why we don't have indigenous names for all teams. I was chatting to an Arrernte speaker recently who said it can be quite difficult as white concepts of places are very different to indigenous ones. For example we talk about Alice Springs being Mparntwe, but that really refers to one spot on the river. Moreover men, women and different groups will use different names for different purposes, and it can be difficult politically.
