My buddy is getting kicked out of this shared apt. And is trying to get his own. He hashealth issues, which he is able to get support for in his current city. Which he is trying to say in. He needs money for the starting cost of an apt. Please consider if you can help him out.

One of the things I loved about #4E was the power cards (the sheet of them, not the cardboard ones). INDEED, you would end up with a booklet of a char sheet. But for me, the strength of that was that every detail of that power was listed on the card. There was no need to abbreviate, or squish info into one line of text.

Does anyone know of a template or program where that could be made for #5E?

@slyflourish thank you so much!!

@slyflourish any advice for funning it? [oops, typo, but also that, but also] Running it, too?

Starting up a DND 5e module tomorrow. Starting #TheWildBeyondOfWitchlight. Kinda excited. Kinda stressing scanning pics.

Also, looking for music. Does anyone know where I can legally buy good carnival music? Not creepy carnival.

Language, Not Rules youtu.be/OIkwABECfR0 Is having super, accurate rules most important in a manual? Or is it giving the ~language~ for everyone to communicate what they want to do?

While curating some Tavern Music for D&D sessions on our YouTube channel, I came across this gem. Such a beautiful cover, with so few views. Give it a listen!

New concept: Candy Mechanics

I think of this as non-essential game mechanics concepts that sound really good at first. They are fun and a bit game breaky, but surpass alot of difficulty. But in actual use, they can become very game breaking, surpass some important story/combat points, can give players control they maybe shouldnt have, and in general cause headaches.

I noticed a fellow, local DM keeps coming up with these, and his games kinda derail. Have you made/ noticed such mechanics?

The fun and messy process of gutting a book for a dice box

@ackthrice I'm still baffled that "threading" is the same as posting each post individually.

@purplemontart Also, I like the fight design. It's very clear to follow, and awesome. It feels like how these creatures would fight, given their features.

Infinity Train: the Unofficial Tabletop RPG | Playtesting Trailer youtu.be/JWEQ_a6QkAc A TTRPG of #InfinityTrain is entering playtesting. Fill out a form to enter.

@MrControl Here Here.

I know that basically all TTRPGs are a power fantasy, but murder hobos are a PFs writ large. It's the same as Cards Against Humanity. It's mostly an excuse to break social norms and be naughty, if only make believe. But when that's the only game one plays, that's.. kinda over indulging, and may speak to something deeper.

@gunnar Also, think of the stuff you enjoyed at that age. And try to see how it overlaps with today's stuff. Even tho your GMing for them, you should have fun with it too. Which helps them have fun.

@gunnar Read some kid-lit or watch kids shows [current day]. Also, at a session 0, ask them what their favorite stories are, and why they like them.

@gunnar [Thought of this later] What you can do is a character that mostly just attacks. You can do feats that + to attack or damage. No fancy thieving tricks, no acrobatic cleric healing, until they start asking for that kind of thing.

@gunnar Keep it super simple for them to learn the fundamentals. But have more complex stuff -in reserve- for if they can handle more. Your more removing hurdles that could make it hard for them to learn and figure out why it's fun. Dont overwhelm them. You can add those hurdles back when they get bored or become ready for more.

Also, dont forget to ease them into the etiquette of the table. And how it benefits them too.
