In heaven the glorified bodies of the just do not suffer illness age and death. Here on earth bodies are influenced by things external to them, and by internal issues including aging. Thus the appearance is influenced by many factors, not only the soul which gives form and life to the body. Thus a person can appear old when they are young, beautiful when they are wicked, female when they are male. #transrights #catholic #transgender

Just so we're all on the same page regarding my space here: While I'm happy to agree to disagree and keep a nodding social media relationship, I:
• openly support and love LGBTQ+ people.
• openly support and love people of all nationalities, ethnicities, and races.
• openly support and love people of all faiths.

You are welcome to leave me alone/block me/etc. to ensure you enjoy your time here. My stance on such issues is not, never has been, and never will be up for debate.

@threalist — I feel I've articulated my stance clearly. While I'm happy to agree to disagree and keep a nodding social media relationship, if the fact that I happily support LGBTQ+ folks upsets you, you are welcome to leave me alone/block me/etc. to ensure you enjoy your time here. My stance on this issue is not, never has been, and never will be up for debate. Peace be with you.

ETA apologies to George, who ended up caught in the response after we had already parted.

The Problem With Letting Therapy-Speak Invade Everything
archive.ph/vJ8Ca

“The idea that we are 'authentic' only insofar as we cut ourselves off from one another, that the truest or most fundamental parts of our humanity can be found in our desires and not our obligations, risks cutting us off from one of the most important truths about being human: We are social animals.”

They still make those practice pads, where the letter is silhouetted and you have to trace it in! Crayola has one that is print letters; last I knew, Highlights magazine offered one for cursive.

@George — I don't believe in "love the sinner, hate the sin" rhetoric. Jesus told us not to judge and I am listening to Him. Not to mention: I am part of the Old Catholic Church, which is brother to but ultimately divorced from Rome.

I genuinely wish you all the best but hope that perhaps this conversation might gently make you aware that the way you feel the need to instruct people is, ultimately, disheartening to those whom you should be extending the most love to.

Peace be with you.

So moving my account to rcsocial lasted all of a half-hour.

Despite the apparent willingness to host all sorts of faiths & all separate viewpoints, I got met at the gate by someone with a very my-way-or-the-highway attitude. I dislike it when people try to limit a Limitless Deity. I could tell it was going to be endless animosity, so I left.

Does any #Religidon or other #theology nerd have a recommendation for where I can set up my account in peace, without annoying my neighbors too badly?

@yankees1958 My mouth is watering! That looks delectable. Please enjoy for all of us! 🍴

I have learned things in the dark that I could never have learned in the light, things that have saved my life over and over again, so that there is really only one logical conclusion. I need darkness as much as I need light.

" During these times, we should turn to the wisdom found in those prophets before us who survived difficulties as well as those poets of the present who see both backwards and forwards. We must cultivate a gracious imagination that sees all as grace received and then practice incarnating those gifts in extensions of grace."

Part 2 of 2: Prayer to St. Barbara

"Winning all the struggles, may I, aware of doing my duty, be grateful to you, my protector, and render thanks to God, the Creator of heaven, earth and nature who has the power to dominate the fury of the storm and to mitigate the cruelty of war.
St Barbara, pray for us.
Amen."

Part 1 of 2: Prayer to St. Barbara

"St Barbara, you are stronger than the tower of a fortress and the fury of hurricanes. Do not let lightning hit me, thunder frighten me or the roar of canons jolt my courage or bravery. Stay always by my side so that I may confront all the storms and battles of my life with my head held high and a serene countenance. [...]

Fun facts about Saint Barbara and her legacy include:

• Barbiturates derive their name from this saint.
• It is believed in Italy that her patronage stopped Mt. Etna from erupting in 1780.
• German-speaking countries celebrate with the Barbarazweig, or Barbrara-branch. The unmarried girls who can coax the cherry twig to blossom on Christmas Eve will be married in the coming year.
• German-speaking countries also make a Barbarakuchen, or Barbara Cake, for the saint's feast day.

Tomorrow (Dec. 4) is the #SecondSundayofAdvent, but also the Feast of St. Barbara. She is known for being martyred by her own father, who was immediately killed by lightening. One of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, she is also patron saint of artillerymen, firemen, mathematicians, miners, armorers, architects, chemical engineers, prisoners, and (of course!) lightening.

God of unveiled truth,
faithful flame
in times of darkened sun and waning moon:
lift up our unknowing hearts,
and waken our sleeping love
to announce the coming dawn
of unexpected peace. AMEN.

“The four weeks lift up theological themes related to endings — death, judgment, heaven, and hell. As such, Advent was a season of penitence and warning, of confession and fasting, like a 'little Lent.' This reading of Advent emerged in the early Middle Ages, reaching its zenith of spiritual popularity — perhaps not unsurprisingly — in the decades of the Black Death.”
