Rides bikes & rants, drinks beer & G&T's. Disturbingly nice to people that give me free beer or bike parts! Views probably stolen, only here to jump the snark

The idea you could be sued by megarich corporations for breaching a law you couldn't afford to read is wildly delicious.
It's hypercapitalism: late-stage was too tame, they're seeing dystopia coming too quickly and are looking for ways to make money before everything goes completely to shit.
Here's our contribution to Session #148, hosted by Laura Hadland, on the subject of pub quizzes. 🍻🍺

@noelreports Also his acknowledging and thanking the car door opener is the sign of a great leader of people.
@jaykuo Curelty for the sake of curelty is the order of the day then.... Such a civilised country.
Was a good day today, spent about 5 hours walking around in the bush checking the predator traps at Brookfield camp.
Frosty at the start but I soon warmed up walking up and down hills.
I hadn't done the sector8 traps before, it was an adventure for sure... a lot of it was unmarked xcountry through dense bush, with only the occasional white (who the hell chose white!!!) marker nailed to a tree to go by, many markers hadn't been maintained and were on the ground.
But I had fun!

🚨 URGENT: You have less than 24 hours to make a submission on the Regulatory Standards Bill.
These are quite funny, but this is no joke!
This bill will impact every New Zealander and the things we rely on every day, like access to clean water, safe and affordable food, and basic health and safety protections at work.
Re posted from over on the blue site. One day to go! kill the bill!
I can so relate to this!

If you think it can’t happen here, remember that it already did. In 1942 soldiers came with rifles to our home and ordered us out. They put us in internment camps. Most of us were citizens.
@craftygardennz Vertigo?
@jeremy_pm
LOL That's gold!!!

This would be a great way to remind us that we are just one part of a massive and complex world, and every year we would learn something new about another part of the world and another culture.
Diplomatically it would also be a great way to strengthen political bonds, foster friendship, knowledge and appreciation of other cultures.

This gave me an idea, how about we replace one of the european holidays we observe (kings birthday would be a good one) with another one from overseas, but this time it changes every year.
on New years day every year one public holiday is chosen at random from another county and we observe it on the same day they do.
Chosen from a list of every county in the world.

I was reading Nick Rockel's blog today (by a guest writer today).

About public holidays in NZ, the American ex pat that wrote it had some good points (if a lil undermined by comments near the start, bemoaning how we don't do USA's holidays how they were for her growing up, straight after rightly questioning the legitimacy of the English import holidays ).
@jackyan Aussies #MakingaHashofit again aye!
