We already have a favorite button that exists purely to tell the author "hey I like your post." We also need a button that indicates "hey I shared this in the group chat with a dozen of my weird little friends and they all loved it even though they're not on fedi."

I saw yet another “CSS is a massively bloated mess” whine and I’m like. My dude. My brother in Chromium. It is trying as hard as it can to express the totality of visual presentation and layout design and typography and animation and digital interactivity and a few other things in a human-readable text format. It’s not bloated, it’s fantastically ambitious. Its reach is greater than most of us can hope to grasp. Put some *respect* on its *name*.

🦈 Ichthyologie; ou, Histoire naturelle des poissons: .
Berlin, Chez l'auteur, 1796..

[Source: biodiversitylibrary.org/page/4]

Illustration of a belted shark (Squalus fasciatus) from a 1796 natural history book. The shark is depicted horizontally with a thick, elongated body and rounded head. Its skin features distinct, irregular dark and light bands resembling a belt pattern. Notable fins include pectoral fins halfway down the body and a curled tail fin with similar banding. The shark's eye is detailed with shading, and thin, red whisker-like appendages extend near its mouth. The image is labeled in multiple languages above the shark. The style is typical of 18th-century scientific illustrations, with fine lines and muted natural colors.

A sappy Valentines ink and watercolour for my boyfriend and me!
I tried printing the sketch directly onto the watercolour paper for this one. Trying to avoid headaches from the lightbox.

I have a free public patreon post going over my process in more detail if anyone's interested: patreon.com/posts/ink-and-with

Haj done! :neofoxnomhajnervous:

You can get this fluffy critter from the shop link below. Apart from the stripes the trans flag shark is also made of several white parts. Since I did not have enough white fabric but also didn't want to throw the scraps away, I reassembled them into the needed pattern parts. So this is also a genuine Frankenshark!

Construction time was a bit longer than I anticipated so I'd need to ask for a bit more. Which also helps me pay this month. So win-win, right?

There is also a new strawberry shark on the page. Both of the new ones now use 100% recycled filling material. It's a different brand and made in Ulm, Germany.

So, if you want any of them… :neofoxheart:

The reason Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon don't feel like Old Twitter is simple sociology: Community is path-dependent. It’s a specific web of 10,000 micro-transactions of reciprocity that happened over a decade.

You can move the people, but you can't move the history.
