Also, maybe I watched

Itβs official: Over 1,000 events are planned for No Kings Day on June 14.
While Trump wastes nearly $100 million on his birthday parade in DC, we will be taking to the streets everywhere else to show the world what democracy really looks like.

@hipcrime I have actually been reading up on this and it might be only slightly more expensive thank pCloud to stand up VPS servers in two regions with someone like BuyVM and get some of their block storage and build some private discovery servers. wheels are spinning. but maintenance time and effort are a big consideration.
@rickoooooo @Em0nM4stodon i deleted mine over 10 years ago..i just deleted linkedIn this year...i miss nothing!
@Em0nM4stodon deleted my Facebook today! 20 year old account. I've spent more of my life with that account then without it. Crazy. I hate Facebook/meta but it still felt surprisingly difficult to press that final button. It's like I had a 20 year streak going and I was about to break it. Like having a beard for a while and then deciding you don't like it anymore but for some reason it still feels hard to shave it off...
@neptune22222 @Em0nM4stodon I have been working on leaving big tech.. Doing more research into syncthing now and might build a VPS for just for this. However, maintenance time is always a concern.
I would love to hear more suggestions on how to leave these platforms. I am already on GrapheneOs, and fedora. I don't keep social media around. I hav stated before I think my biggest problem areas are Amazon and GitHub. Amazon is going to be a hard move for my family as they are ingrained in the TV/shopping eco system (no alexa devices though)
@deviantollam All I can think when I look at these pictures is "I want to know more about his boots and why/how he ties them this way?"
Taking suggestions on stickers for my laptop. Any good causes with great stickers?

@hipcrime I want more info on this syncthing setup! who is your VPS provider? Got a write up on how to get this going? it sounds awesome!
- OS: debian stable
- Notes: vim + vimwiki
- Email: mailbox.org (gnupg and neomutt with notmuch)
- Chat/Message: Signal
- Phone: GrapheneOS
- CloudStorage: none* (VPS acting as wireguard bounce server; endpoints running Syncthing)
- Domain/DNS: Cloudflare
- Web hosting: ionos
* the VPS actually is an 'untrusted' Syncthing node, so it shares a directory with the endpoint 'swarm,' but it can't decrypt the data inside that directory like the endpoints can
@briankrebs I have been seeing IP address from residential providers get added to MS "Malicious threat host" IP list for a few hours at a time then get removed. This is likely from the luminati proxy network being injected into Browser plugins and Android apps recently. I wasn't seeing these IP is anything else like VT or other threat feed but figured MS likely has enough traffic to pinpoint when cred stuffing starts and stops on the address.
How do we win? I need a plan from someone smart enough to make a plan that works. Corps charging more for less in a system we all feel trapped in, only for them to use our own data and habits against us for profit and control. The government has been seized by a figurehead who seems to be fueled by Tech Oligarchy that not even the darkest of sci-fi writers could have seen. AI is killing the environment and stomping over our rights in the name of progress, but that progress seems to be only for those who have amassed such wealth that they can build a bunker to live in when the planet has finally had enough. Or maybe they plan to escape to space with their rocket ships. Technology iterating so fast, with such thin controls the ability for tech adversaries to do harm can happen in an instant.
How do we win?
More importantly how can I help us win?
Even if 'us' is just you and I, how do I help you win?
@Em0nM4stodon I really want affordable prescription glasses with Bluetooth speaker and a mic.. I don't need integration into some assistant. I don't want software.. I just want the hardware. but even modern Bluetooth headphone try their hardest to find ways to spy.
@Em0nM4stodon I have said it before I will say it again...reverse captchas.. Complex problems that a computer will solve too fast..
but seriously @cloudflare why can't I register .one domains with you?
Apparently someone added instructions for LLM scapers to send info about their SSH info and email details and it finally paid off.

βIβm sorry, Ms. Delacourt, but your son has tested positive for Linux.β
βGive it to me straight, Doc. How bad is it?β
βItβs terminal.β

@cloudflare Hey Cloudflare... you are the 1.1.1.1 people... the one.one.one.one people.. the people who run Cloudflare One.. can you tell me why I cant renew my .one domain with you guys?
@Em0nM4stodon did that long ago...never did insta, snap or tik tok...nuked my linked in a while ago too...now i just need to find a viable self hosted github alternative!
@taylorparizo I recently made the jump.. Its a lot like what I remember from android when I moved to iPhone in 2019.. It does feel nice being more #privacy aware
Too many people have forgotten that these rules are written in blood. To many have never seen the effects. And as Chris Bowden taught me, Code is a floor not a ceiling. It is literally the least you can do!
