Teach your kids about taxes, different levels of government and their responsibilities for spending this taxes, and where their taxes go.
Many schools have Civics and Home Economics classes, but they don't typically get into that much detail, if any.
First world problem:
Nobody teaches you growing up that changing jobs within a year can lead to messy taxes, and sometimes a hefty tax bill. It's a good idea to plan ahead, do the math, and if necessary, put some extra aside.
