Usually people will be with you on the big stuff but they might want to change something small like the wording or the size of a button. Let them, even if they are wrong

I'd like to have a discussion, to sharpen my thoughts on the news that Meta will be allowed to train its LLM on public user data in EU:

My main question is:
Q1. If you wish to opt out, what are your reasons? Be explicit. Assume I don't know anything about it.
A hypothetical question:
Q2. Would your objection still hold if it wasn't Meta, but a benevolent non-profit that would make the resulting LLM open-source and available to all?
Moved my blog to 11ty instead of handwriting every page in HTML. Hopefully this will make it a bit easier for me to write more
@ErikJonker the price per token have been dropping steadily since ChatGPT came out and at the same time the training costs are getting larger and larger.
I think it will be hard to find a sustainable business model once the hype money runs out unless you are google and can subsidize the llm cost.
OpenAI is aiming for a do-all competitor to google which is hard. Anthropic seems to target coding which is a niche that I think can work
Im slightly worried that im creating a workflow that requires a lot of back and forth between my own little home built tool and #notion… but for now it is what it is and we will cross that bridge when we get to it
Im now faced with how to design for this and how much design to do now vs later when I’ve discovered even more wierd stuff about how I would like to use it.
I’ve decided to add tags for the whole articles, not just the annotated text, and I will need to work on some way to filter and sort articles inside the app.
I also need to work on the export functionality so that I can sort the articles and then export them in new folders back to notion.
I’ve now been testing it for a week or so and I’ve noticed that I have two very different goals: one is to note down interesting parts of an article or blog post (which is what I built it for) but a huge part of it is just sorting articles into smaller and smaller piles. I’ve already done a rough sorting when I saved the articles into folders but I noticed that I often wasn’t ready to pick out the interesting parts of articles and that I needed another sorting to get into the right head space.

As someone who works in automotive this is a super exciting take.
It is obviously targeting US market (they are the only ones who care about pickup trucks) but it would be cool if the approach could spread to other markets
