How badly is your country doing if they're banning adopting children from other countries in order to protect the children?

@Gulleko I remember one year we had cake.
Fakest holiday ever by the way. I mean, nothing against Jesus, but this story where his closest friends claim he came back from the dead to visit them and no one else knew about it until after he bodily levitated into Heaven is a pretty big reach.
Every year I'm reminded there is a holiday called Christ's Ascension to Heaven Day only because I have errands into town and there I discover most businesses are closed. I mean, I don't even know how we celebrate it in Sweden and I grew up pretty Christian.
And it's a crumbling tiny old library book I'm scared to read too enthusiastically. It'll be the bookstore tomorrow.
Started reading some Rilke and immediately wondered what I've been doing the last 120 years that I've missed out on this. The king kept his wooden lips shut and retreated from the court to build another palace in his mind I mean what.
"Wouldn't the ethical thing be to save them from the fire instead?" Look nobody's perfect
Ethical nicotine addict vampire who can only drink blood from someone who's fallen asleep while smoking and is about to die in fire
But everything changed when the WD-40 attacked (Wait what?)
Once the four nations lived in harmony: Astroglide, gelatin, napalm and aerogel
Haven't seen this before and now I have to try to not think about it if I'm ever gonna enjoy playing Risk again. Do board games that have been with us since the 1950s even need advertising?
I feel like Azula is actually a psycholigically sound, compassionate, bright kid who's just forcing herself to be like that to fit in with the fascist regime. And facing the depraved and inhumane outcomes of her forced beliefs is what drives her into full psychosis by the end. Or maybe that's giving too much benefit of the doubt?
https://eci.ec.europa.eu/043/public/#/screen/home Just the other day they had like 600,000 signatures and now somehow it's almost up to the required million, with one day still to go. 0.2% of all the EU got together for trans rights!
Sure the word "epistolary" literally comes from "letters" but I'd argue it has come to mean a form of story that justifies itself being told in that form in its own narrative, i.e. found footage movies, Escher's drawing of hands drawing themselves, a certain Quantum Documentary, et.c..
New thought of the day: Are fat people so common that we're an epidemic or are we so rare that there's no market for like sturdier chairs?
I wonder if this is how real coding is like.
Kind of cray when I think about. . .how shall I put this delicately? In between my first whispers of sexual urges and to this day never getting laid? That works. In my lifetime, HIV went from patient zero to a global pandemic to totally changing the way casual sex works forever to getting a vaccine.
(I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea there is now a HIV vaccine.)
For the love of Finland, what's the worst that can happen if you let some grass grow for even a week? Snow's not even entirely gone from the ground yet and an extremely noisy riding lawnmover is terrorizing my neighborhood.
