@steve It's the old cable problem again - I would pay a couple bucks to watch This Channel, but they want me to buy the bundle of twenty channels I'll never look at. I miss the early Apple days where I just paid for the season of the show I wanted to watch.
@Axomamma I wouldn't, but I have family members who are targeted. (And even while I personally would be probably OK, I can go other places where I *will* be OK instead.)
But I could see white dudes being "cool, cheap golf vacay" and trusting that they won't get hassled.
@VE2UWY Problem is inducing that demand. If driving is faster and cheaper than the train, why would I take it? (And I say that as someone who was actively pricing out trains for vacation this year, and would dearly like to have proper transit in this country.)
@TheGentYYC The sad thing is that it'll work. At least for folks who figure *they* won't get detained, right?
@VE2UWY I'm thinking the west coast side. Calgary to Winnipeg is a 13 hour non-stop drive. A shinkansen covers that same distance from Aomori to Hiroshima in 7.5hr and makes a dozen stops along the way just to rub it in. :)
@VE2UWY Also some high-speed would be helpful. Shouldn't be faster to drive!
@atomicker That's pretty normal here in AB - a lot of wildfires are ignored by the public until it gets close to a populated/built-up area. Which is kinda funny because you'd think the Jasper and Ft. Mac fires just spawned out of nowhere (rather than being around for weeks until it got Somewhere Important TM.)
@dashdsrdash I've got an MX Master 3, and it never occurred to me to remap those extra buttons to something like copy/paste. Thanks for the idea!
@mhoye A hardware thing for me - switched to an Ergodox keyboard a few years back and it has ruined normal keyboards forever. :)
@alexadeswift I presume it's because Israel has the "Iron Dome", and his will be that but *shinier*.
(As a Canadian, I figure y'all should be paying us to put this stuff up - after all, it's the US that's peeved the world off.)

Seems weird for the city to be sponsoring what is basically paid advertising spots for private companies? Not like I can go to this and then go buy a legal e-scooter to get around town...
@ned I deeply hate "managed by IT" settings that deal with things far beyond what is necessary for IT. (Our company forces each. and. every. tab. to load the company blog site.)
@Crispius I'd say we just need to ignore him - and personally I'd rather have a US True Believer disgraced politician who will just spout this nonsense, rather than a career diplomat who is stuck having to parrot the party line. I'd feel sorry for that guy.
Drawing: Possible causes of your problems. I've been appalled at the scenes we've witnessed over the last few days. It's utterly unacceptable that people should have to live in fear because of the colour of their skin.
[Polite comments only, please.]
@Trussell @Paulatics And an interesting detail that the books aren't listed in the school board catalogs. Were they planted?
@AmeliasBrain I'd be a bit harsher - I do *not* donate money to for-profit companies. Or gov't projects either (if they need money, that's called "taxes").
@dark_stang Welp, that's a choice. (tbf, I have some Google tech in the house, but after being told they're bricking our Nest later this year we're actively working towards localizing because heck with that.)
