Nothing new from me for #BandcampFriday today but I want to highlight the most recent release I appear on:
Dimorphodons - 'Waui' https://dimorphodons.bandcamp.com/album/waui
If you enjoy psych, The Beach Boys/The Association-y harmonies and just generally having your face melted off, you'll love this record!
@mjohnhenry Thank you 🙏
@Anibyl It’s bad enough replacing inner tubes by the side of the road. I would be a nervous wreck if I had to do the sealant thing. Good luck.
Listening now. https://linernotes.club/@1001OtherAlbums/114439235095261596
@Anibyl What a pain. Have you managed to fix it?
@BenCotterill That looks like it might have been buried in an ice tarn since 1987.
@BenCotterill I could murder a Space 1999 lolly.

Nun or Never! – Enjoyable Finnish animated short abiout a nun, would you believe? Mubi currently has a few animated shorts dealing with sex and desire. Worth checking out.
Sinner – Yep, it’s good. I like the way it slowly builds so that when the thing that happens happens you’re emotionally invested. Wunmi Mosaku is terrific, and Michael B Jordan is great in his twin role as brothers. Ryan Coogler's direction is confident; he knows you'll go wherever he;s takng you. It all makes for a really enjoyable trip to the cinema.
In Another Country – Isabelle huppert plays three charachters, all called Anne, in the first of the three films she's made with Hong Sang-soo. Slighter than his usual fare, probably not helped that she and otehr actors are speaking in English, so it seems more scripted than usual, but enjoyable nevertheless.
Universal Language – Without doubt the best film I’ve seen in a long long time. I raved about it the other day but this movie, set in a Winnepeg in which everyone speaks Farsi, is utterly joyful. Ostensibly an homage to Iranian films about children (such as The White Balloon), it has such warmth and humour. And turkeys gobbling "Unacceptable!"
@alexpsmith Someone I know said they’d invited Grace to their house for a dinner party. She finally turned up at midnight. But was delightful, apparently.
#BandcampFriday riyl Marisa Anderson, Tom Verlaine, Loren Connors, my forthcoming album The Vallum https://robertdallasgray.bandcamp.com/album/the-vallum
@alexpsmith Jones, without a doubt
@ishmaellasting that’s a good week’s viewing
@TheBreadmonkey I know someone who’s a member. He could get me in for a swim with a guest pass for TWENTY-FIVE pounds. I mean, you could get a decent Martini for that.
If you ever think you're not great at tech, web design or use cases you're almost certainly still better than the person who built this
If you haven't subscribed to Ironic Sans, you should. So many interesting rabbit holes that I had never, ever heard of: https://ironicsans.ghost.io/the-supermodel-snowpocalypse-was-insane/
@TheBreadmonkey I love it in films from the 1940s/50s where you get a newspaper spinning around in a blur, popping you with a headline. Modern films take 45 minutes to do the same thing but with tedious exposition.
Why the lettering on Pope Francis's tomb looks so bad

@mayintoronto At least you’re the right way up. If I tried I’d probably be face-down on the mattress, confused about why it’s dark.
@mayintoronto I am a 55-year-old man, and the other day, I put not only my trousers, but my t-shirt and jumper on backwards. I mean, the day was a write-off, clearly.
