Browsers tried again with the DNT header, and the ad industry killed it as soon as it got non-trivial amount of users.
The problem exists, because the multi-trillion-dollar tracking industry wants it to exist. The popups are intentionally obnoxious to make users associate privacy with stupid inconvenience, and give up demanding privacy.

They do that too have less downtime, more densely packed jobs, without having to wait for slow client.... Until they disappear for three weeks while leaving their tools still stashed in your house that is!

This is dark. Itâs not an easy read. I do not recommend it for those who suffer from crippling climate anxiety, or who are prone to being depressed by learning about the abject state of todayâs politics and economics.

So, from their perspective, dragging their feet isnât just about short-term profits â itâs about preserving a system that ensures their continued dominance, even as the world burns.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are left watching as climate disasters pile up â floods swallowing cities, heatwaves killing thousands, wildfires turning landscapes to ash â while the financial elite sit back and continue cashing in.
At this point, itâs not just negligence. Itâs premeditated collapse.

If youâve made it this far, you already know the truth: this isnât capitalism failing. Itâs capitalism succeeding exactly as intended.
The rich are not scrambling to prevent collapse. They welcome it â because they know theyâll be the only ones left standing. While the rest of us are told to âsacrificeâ and âtighten our belts,â billionaires are building bunkers, buying private islands, and hoarding resources for the dystopia they see coming.
And why shouldnât they? They built this system to ensure that, when it all falls apart, theyâd be untouchable.
Because their goal is not to fix the system. Their goal is to extract as much as possible, as fast as possible, before everything comes crashing down.

I get they're already considered "quirky" but in games like Planescape Torment or Disco Elysium, the overarching campaign narrative is "learn about yourself", which may be considered a positive goal (?) you work towards throughout the game
There used to be a lot of weird, queer, erotic interactive art on the internet. A wonderful diversity of games, stories, toys, and fiddly scraps. But, people couldn't stay a float, flash died, GameJolt back stabbed a ton of artists. And so it quietly went away.
Flash ending was corporate tech killing a vibrate art form. No authoring tools have replaced it. Most people deride it without considering the things it enabled.
The Humankind world map we shipped with this perspective remains one of my favourite maps to play the game on.
