We (PNW-Northern Rockies-GYE) are entering into extreme weather week as a winter-strong fast consolidated jet stream interacts w much stronger upper ridging further S, over the SW/CA. Plenty to worry about for us, but the PNW will be hard-hit w AR heavy rain and high snow levels. Strong winds here biggest worry, across our complex terrain and down the Beartooth Front. Wind starting up Nichols Crk. trail run today 1850m-2200m, only 10-15cm base up top.

the Beartooth Front high peaks looking WNW from our place this morn. and aftn. slowly deeping snowpack up there from a week ago. turbulent windy sky and it will be furious up there tonight. NWS Portland (l) and Billings (r) front pages this aftn. Not good either place, or in between. looking north along the Beartooth Front from 2200m (l) and east (r). Pryors way out there to the E. Interesting in there, last mtn. range this far N until New England. this is a steep run at times, when it gets icy, treacherous without spikes. I always wear them in snow cover, icy patches underneath can occur without warning.

took side detour up to 2200m viewpoint, thank goodness for the ski track, made it much easier. the 500mb (upper air) forecast late tonight. that is an extremely strong flow w impressive temperature gradients. look how squeezed together the contours are over WA/N ID/MT. the NWS official NDFD total precip. forecast ending 1700 MST thu. Look at those amounts over the Cascades down into Nrn OR. High snow levels, this will be serious. viewpoint we ran to 2200m 10-15cm base. mild 4C NW breeze.

866 — Do any of your characters use medical or assistive devices (including glasses)?

Not really. They are all quite young and healthy when it comes to needing medical/assistive devices. They have medical and psychological issues - no doubt. After all they are who have left their homes and families/friends and moved permanently to a faraway city from which they are not allowed to leave unless they are leaving for good.

December 8. How does your work compare to the earliest work in your genre?

I am no expert in this - but I hear that Octavia Butler's "Parable of the Sower" is one of the early ones to tell the kind of story "A New Faith" is. That one is dystopian, IMO. My novel is more on the side. But one could interpret strains in it, too. Both are in the category.
