๐ Hello, world! My name is Brie Carranza ๐ฆ๐ (she/her). {{ My posts are tech stuff and #Caturday stuff. }} I am an infosec-oriented engineer WHOIS curious about GraphQL and #ransomware. I corrected a typo at the Library of Congress. ๐

โจ Thanks to this post (โ๏ธ) TIL about Large Scale Systems Museum / Museum of Applied Computer Technology!
๐ Super cool and easily within driving distance!
๐ Plop hopes you have a great day!
๐งช I found myself establishing connections to new hosts often enough this week that this was super helpful:
๐ echo $(whoami)@$(curl --silent ifconfig.me)
๐คญ Not new, just more helpful than usual!
๐ I've been using Shaarli very happily at https://brie.run ever since this chat!
โ It's super cool and I use it pretty often! I especially love the tag cloud and the ease of export.
๐ฏ๐ Thanks for the recommendation!
@argv_minus_one Thank you; it does make a โจ lot โจ of sense from that perspective!
:ablobcatbongokeyboard: This might be obvious by now but I am from the States and was exclusively thinking about US English in my original message!
๐คญ FWIW, I am fluent in UTC and proficient with Celsius!
:neko_smiley: Happy Caturday!
:blobcatheart: This is one of my absolute favorite pics of Plop!
๐คญ Despite the very sad look on his face, he got in there himself.
Plop fits, Plop sits.
@michaelharley ๐ I wrote a bit about how KOReader, PocketBook and Calibre are working for my workflow partially to reply to your note: https://brie.dev/ok-reader/ #KOReader

๐คฏ TIL that "UTC(NIST)" is a thing that exists to provide the official time for the US.
๐ The earliest implementation of UTC(NIST) was built in the 1960s by NIST"s predecessor, the National Bureau of Standards.

@dsalo ๐คญ A kindred spirit! (I'm very interested in how others approach bookmark management!)
๐ฆ I'm a long-time fan of archivebox.io but I like trying new things!
@dsalo ๐ป This is super neat: thank you so much for sharing!
โจ I was taking a peek at Shaarli this weekend so it's neat to see it in use!
@dsalo ๐ป This double slide deck is โจ awesome โจ: bookmarked!
๐คญ I'm curious: do you happen to have a publicly available list of the stories you mentioned on slide 14?
โจ I disabled the YouTube app on my phone last night and now it's turning into an unintentional resolution for the year: can I make it to the end of the year without re-enabling it? (I still have YouTube in the browser on my phone and I'll still use YT on the desktop.)
๐ Dear future Brie: it's OK if you re-enable YouTube before 2026 gets here.
๐งช I'll frame this as an experiment rather than a resolution to lower the stakes.
